My mobile phone provider (Vodafone) gave me a 16GB Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 4G for free for being a good customer. It arrived today.

So, I live in Las Vegas, and it not only rained yesterday, but has continued to be cloudy and damp all day today! I took a walk, wore a hoodie and boots without getting over-heated, and ordered a hot drink at Starbucks because I was genuinely COLD, not just 'cause.
I love winter so danged much. Especially now that it actually FEELS like winter. :D

So today something awesome happened at work! I never felt so legitimated in my decision of studying other languages than my own.

@ZePancakes ALL OF THE HIGH FIVES! You got through some seriously tough shit to get where you are! Great job!

@viscomica Language is the expression of ideas, and I'm puimped to hear that the study of that expression worked out to your benefit!

As for myself, there's apparently a nonzero chance that I could be adding "professional jazz tuba player" to my ever growing list of jobs. For the lulz.

Got my GTX 970. Upgraded from a 560 TI. Now, the 560 TI is a SOLID card. I'd still recommend it to any of you. But mine was at the end of its lifespan so it was time for an upgrade.

This 970? My God. I had to get a new monitor and cable since my old ones are also dying out but from what I can see of the benefits of this one? Everything's just smoother and faster. No more sacrificing some settings to push other ones. My games now recommend "Go for everything max!"

Witcher 3? Come at me.

I love being in a job where I get to fix technology and get bonuses. Finally my talents being put to use.

My good talents. Not the one that can stop a guy breathing for a few minutes.

Woohoo! You can play AC Unity at 1080p! You might even get a reasonable frame rate! :D

Isn't AC Unity incredibly buggy right now? Or was that all patched out? I also stopped with the series after how badly they milked 2.

You missed out on Black Flag then.

I've had the opportunity to get it free from work. (One of my many, many bonuses.) I just have lost absolutely any interest in the series.

I've kinda reached that point myself. I love Assassin's Creed, the original game was the first game that got me into gaming in any remotely serious way, and I loved Black Flag... but I just have no interest in Unity. Something about all the advertising I've seen for it has just made me go "...eh"

Not sure what I'll move on to

To be fair, leaving aside all the horrible bug stuff, Unity is quite a good game. Certainly the city of Paris is huge and all the side quests will keep you occupied for hours. Even the main missions themselves are not too badly done. The story is pretty much your standard work your way up the templar food chain affair that you normally get but it's definitely not as bad as The Internet makes it out to be.

I know. The city is beautiful, the ability to go indoors is a wonderful touch, the setting is excellent, and I've heard the protagonist is actually relatable and nice. But... none of it really interests me. Assassin's Creed storylines bore me nowadays, nothing about Arno makes me interested in the guy. It just doesn't offer enough that's genuinely new or cool, as opposed to gimmicky tack-ons or playing to formula.

Congrats! It means that Big Business thinks you're responsible enough to be trusted to pay off your obligations with a grace period! :)

Wife and I get xmas cards and mail 'em out to friends and family...but we always have a few left over...now we've got a fair number of different 'odds and ends' cards piling up.

But the WIN is that I've discovered the perfect use for them:

Fixed my monitor. Fixed my graphics card. I now have full HDMI glory on my GTX 970 and there is nothing I can't run.

Seriously. It was a mix of the cable and the drivers.

I am finally done with this semester. My grad school apps are in, I have one 50-question multiple choice test on Saturday (pbbt finals on Saturday), and a bit of work to finish up for a project.

This 17 unit semester can go suck it.

The best part? I HAVE FREE TIME AGAIN! And right after that test, I get to go have delicious food and beer. YES.

The Research Degrees Committee at my university has recommended that I be awarded a PhD. I guess that makes me Doctor Chrusher now.

I'll be Wesley! Everybody tells me to shut up anyway.

All kidding aside, that's really awesome, Chrusher. Is that recommendation from the committee all you need? I'm not really familiar with the process.
