They did an album for John Zorn's Masada Book 2, called Xaphan. It's also pretty fantastic.
Re: 2009 Best Music!
Ah right, I have that one.
(It was released in '08, according to wikipedia)

This. So good, I actually went to see the same gig in two different cities (London & Wolverhampton), which I have NEVER done before.

Re: 2009 Best Music!
Thinking back over this year I believe I have only purchased one new album, that being the soundtrack for Coraline. The rest of my music I buy at places like Half Price Books & Preplayed & other media stores whose name implied second-hand goods. I find a lot of good music this way & cheap too. And if I don't like it I'm not out a lot of money & can always sell it back.
Unfortunately, there aren't enough new bands out there I care enough about to follow. The winds need to change, I think, before I can get excited about new music again.

I was so annoyed I missed my shot to see them. After the London gig they did one in Bristol (which is really damn close to me) the next night, but I was headed up to London!
To see the Prog Nation tour, but still. They should totally have swapped out Opeth for Porcupine Tree.

O, I missed the Yeah, yeah, yeah's! Liked Patrick Watson and really liked Grizzly Bear. Didn't like the Hazards of Love.
Veckatimest is nicely layered, I like layered.

Yeah, I checked the album cover after I signed off last night and it was indeed released in 2008. Which means it's been a year and a half since I bought any considerable amount of music, dammit! I checked my music library, and apart from a couple of free online EP's the SC3 album is the only 2009 release I own. Which is just ridiculous.
Actually, I was going to buy The Incident, but decided against it in the end because I already have 47 hours, 19 minutes and 52 seconds of music by Steven Wilson's various bands and side projects, so I probably won't die if I don't buy The Incident just yet.

Oh, Oh, Oh, forgot to put something on my list...
Wallis Bird - New Boots - An irish musician that I am currently really into. I saw her perform at the Mitchelstown Indie-Pendance music festival (which is pretty awesome in itself) just a few months back at the end of August (my first time having heard of her), and again last weekend when, by chance, she just happened to be the supporting act for Rodrigo y Gabriela at the Opera House. Really awesome stage presence.
Also, I actually really quite like The Hazards of Love. While I can see why some might not, I still do. I guess I just really love story-based albums.

Only at Loading Ready Run could a forum discus something as diverse & personal as musical tastes without turning ugly. Still, I couldn't resist sharing some Basic Instructions on the topic.

O, for the people who like singersongwriter/folky stuff:
Ben Howard.
He was the supporting act for Brett Dennen, and he was awesome, to some extent I liked him more then Dennen! Probably cause his music's completely different..XD Anyway, haunting voice, nice but subtle rhythms.

Whatwhatwhat!? What is this song and where can I get it?
You used to be able to get some live recordings off their website. There was some other site that had a lot of liverecordings too(that the Dresden Dolls themselves linked too) but I can't remember it ATM. If you want, I can compress a .rar of all the tracks I got off the two sites, and sent them to you per email. I'm fairly sure it's not illegal.

OK!
My top 10 is done! Everyone go listen to these albums. They are not only liked by me, but are really, really well put together and generally brilliant!
The Boobie prizes:
Best band name: Joy Orbison
Biggest Let down: Muse - The Resistance
Most Overhyped: The Dirty Projectors - Bitte Orca
Honourable mentions:
Telefon Tel Aviv - Immolate Yourself
Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavilion
Kylesa - Static Tensions (what I've heard, I liked, but I haven't heard enough to judge it properly)
The Mountain Goats - The life of the world to Come
Fever Ray -
And now... the top 10:
10. Sunset Rubdown - Dragonslayer
9. Yeah Yeah Yeahs - It's Blitz!
8. Patrick Watson - Wooden Arms
7. Mastodon - Crack the Skye
6. Atlus Sound - Logos
5. Baroness - Blue Record
4. Future of the Left - Travels with Myself and Others
3. Fuck Buttons - Tarot Sport
2. Grizzly Bear - Veckatimest
.....
....
...
..
.
1. Bat for Lashes - Two Suns!
(round of applause)
Seriously though, sequencing the top five was nearly impossible, and while writing this list, I changed the order of the second half twice. Also, Grizzly Bear and Bat for Lashes were neck and neck for a while.
I'm tempted to cross post this to the escapist to see what that crowd thinks of this music...

So, 2009, uhhh... Yeah.
Well, I'm listening to the new Om album right now, which is likely to be very brilliant, but apart from that, really just Stabat Mater's debut and Seven Chalices by Teitanblood came across as excellent. Dispite good efforts Funeral Mist, DsO, or Wolfmother didn't quite live up to my expectations, but shall be mentioned briefly regardless.
And now, 2010: A year in review: Triptykon - Eparistera Daimones. That is all, cheers.
