Avatar problems

I can't for the life of me get this avatar set up... i can't get the pict down to 6KIB and I even set up a photobucket account to try and link to the image but I get the following error messages
The avatar’s filesize must be between 0 and 6 KiB.
This file cannot be displayed because the extension is not allowed.
The upload was rejected because the uploaded file was identified as a possible attack vector.

I give up I shall have to remain avatarless...

link the location, not the image itself?

Convert the file to a JPEG, not RAW or BMP or whatever you're trying to upload. That should probably take care of all of that.

I have been using JPEG... but for whatever reason photoshop makes every file needlessly large... i tryed to throw a single pixel (savwed as a low quality JEPG) in and it still was too big...
Edit: ok fixed. nevermind everyone, I finally figured out Photobucket has a scale editor and scaled down to 80x60 pixels or so it finally was down to 4KIB thanks anyway though.
