Brew Update!
Re: Brew Update!
We should be bottling early next week. We just need to get our hands on a lot of bottles, like 50 of them.

My name is also Abe. Go fuck yourself.
TheRocketSiobhan knows how we roll. Hard. As. Fuck.

I'm not alone! Beer-loving Abes of the world unite!
[edit]
Since this is a beer thread, I'll add that I tried a pint of Rauchbier("smoke beer") on New Year's Eve, and I had a very hard time finishing it. Tasted like a campfire.
One of my coworkers is into homebrewing, and I've had a few bottles of a tasty english bitter that he just made. I'm very tempted to give homebrewing a go.

Maybe you should really just stop telling people their names are terrible, and take Abe's advice.

6 months till my newest mead is drinkable
well, thats not true, I had a glass of it after bottling after a month in bulk aging, and it's good, but it has a sour note i'd like to see mellow down for a good while (I must of selected a great green apple for the added flavoring)

NECROOOOOOOOO BUMP!
I am presently waiting for water to boil so I can make wort for a delicious pale ale.
MID TYPING POST UPDATE: HEARD WATER BOILING, MADE IT INTO WORT.
Now bringing it to a boil again before adding bittering hops.

Re: Brew Update!
I might have killed my yeast, I added it to the wort when the wort was still around 110 F.
I'm gonna get more yeast tomorrow, and if it isn't fermenting Wednesday morning I'll pitch some more.

Re: Brew Update!
Yea that's a bit hot, need to let it cool to 60-65, before pitching your yeast, better to pitch cool and let rise than the otherway.
Myself, am getting ready to build a 2x4x4ft insulated and temprature controlled brewing cabinet and put my 15gallon brewing system to work
Edit: Dry yeast or liquid?

Re: Brew Update!
As the resident German beer snob I can only contribute this:
The best beers in the Netherlands so far are Brand and Grimbergen.
Heineken and Bavaria are not beer.
Thank you.

Dry yeast, and it's fermenting
I'm probably going to go ahead and build a wort chiller before my next batch. I'm pretty excited, the batch fermenting now is my first attempt at adding my own hops to unhopped extracts, as well as using real equipment.

Re: Brew Update!
As I am but a poor American all I have had is Light [insert large national distributor] beer. For information, I feel I must ask if all beer tastes like wet yeast? I'd like to know whether or not I should try other beers when I am old enough to have beer other than what the 'rentals drink.
