New Year's Eve

Postby Darkobra » 30 Dec 2009, 22:20

Well it's New Year's Eve. How are you going to spend it? As for me, today is my 23rd birthday so I'm going to do what I enjoy most. Feet up, do piss all and watch Batman cartoons. The 1992 ones.

Hell, I'm getting senile. I actually tried to put the thread title as my log-in name. It's happening!

Well, I was going to go down to the Musicbox Theatre in Chicago for their showing of The Poseidon Adventure wherein it's presented as a party on the cruise ship with champagne & favours, & the movie is timed so when it reaches midnite & the new year, it is also midnite & the new year in the movie. Unfortunately a friend won't be coming & it won't be the same making the long trip alone. I'm uncertain what exactly I'll do. If I don't go to Chi-town I'll head to a friend's family's big new year's party. Either way I really wish I had a date. Not enough of my friends are single any more.

I will, like every previous year, likely be spending it in my basement on my computer. I'll probably be in hanging in the IRC room for some semblance of human contact.

Yes, I'm wallowing in self-pity at the moment. I'm tired, have a splitting headache, and have some messed up personal shit to take care of. So deal with it.

Wow, that movie sounds interesting. And I know what you mean about single friends. It's like there's a huge panic. Remember in school you had to grab your nearest partner in case you got lost and stick with them? That's how I see most relationships here.

Company, since none of my single friends seem to be available & my non-single friends would rather spend the evening with their S.O.

By the way, here's more on the Poseidon Adventure showing. Last year was the first time they tried it so it's a fairly new thing. Sounds like fun but it's a long, lonely drive down there for a holiday.

staying at my parents to have great food and lamenting the fact that I once again spent my new years living in New York (the last for me before moving away) visiting LA. I've so wanted to explore the eerie calm of Manhattan that exists when everybody else is trying to get as close to Time Square as possible, but it'll have to wait. I'm ringing in the new with my family, anyone up in BC or SF, and anyone down in Tijuana, so to all my mates north and south, Cheers.

Only 99 more decades before 3000, WOOOOO!

Staying in with my girlfriend, and most likely watching Jools Holland's Hootenanny, my new years show of choice.

I'm leaving in 90 minutes or so to drive 4 hours to visit family friends in Upstate NY, even though I haven't slept. I plan on taking a nice nap in the car and at the hotel once we check in.

I ditto your ditto.

Ironically, I find the biggest 'social' events to be too antisocial (and/or dangerous) to go to. I've already had a beer, so I'm not just a depressive bastard :)

Meeting friends for lunch, then to the marathon party (4pm-?), with same friends. Not that exciting.
