But that's the thing. He LEFT his job. The Tonight Show was agreed upon long ago to be Conan O'Brien's from June 2009. That's it. Done. Complete.

And from what Letterman said on HIS show a few nights ago, when there was the whole Leno/Letterman "who's getting The Tonight Show" debacle, apparently Leno would hide in the closet during secret NBC exec meetings, even during talks with Letterman privately, Leno was in the room, hiding in a closet listening in. Sure, it's NBC's fault for bringing all this on, but Jay Leno is certainly not a saint.

EDIT: Also, that was weird. Forum told me I'd posted and all, but this post never actually appeared, yet it said I was the newest poster. Re-wrote it anyway =O

That video was brilliant. I love how Jimmy Fallon's on the far right trying to push back, then just watches everyone get beaten up.

It wasn't even an "experiment" and it wasn't that Conan couldn't find his proper footing in the new spot either! He's only had the gig for SEVEN MONTHS. Jay tried to say that his 10pm show only got 4 months, but I'm sure he at least got a chance when he replaced Johnny Carson. Conan has been treated like absolute shit and rightfully deserves a better chance.

The other thing, I totally approve of CoCo being The Hulk and Jay being Loser!Man... But Jeff Zucker as Captain America? Oh well, at least Jimmy didn't change xD And some random lawyer guy o.o

EDIT: Wait, NOW I GET IT. Conan didn't even know who the two added guys were and neither did I! Now I realize that they're Dave Letterman and Jimmy Kimmel, not Fallon at all. Well, that clears it up better \o/

From a link a friend sent, there seems to be domain squatting already. The sharks are circling. There's also a chance that Fox is using a proxy to register the domain themselves:

http://www.networksolutions.com/whois-s ... NONFOX.COM

Ownership of the domain would certainly be transferred to Fox through the courts if Conan actually has a show on the network in the future, but it might just be faster to pay these people off.

This I agree with; Jay doesn't want to be back on the Tonight Show, he apparently just wants to keep doing some sort of talk show (guess it's in his blood).

It is really easy for people here to say Jay should just step aside but if he did he would be walking away from $80 million, which is what NBC would have to pay if they canceled him.
I don't care who you are, that is a lot of money and I don't think anyone here could honestly say they would just leave that on the table.

Screw you, IF I had the wealth that Mr. Leno has gathered already, even maybe $5 million (which I'm sure is less than what he has in assets), I'd be content with turning my back on bigger amounts of money. And this isn't about money for Jay, this is about doing a talk show - any talk show.

And why should he? Why should he be responsible for NBC screwing this up? Are you responsible for what your employer does? Would you be willing to leave your job if someone else wanted it?

You seem to be flip-flopping from what you said in the first paragraph...

anyways, as for the last question: if I was comfortably wealthy like Jay Leno was, and someone else needed the job more than I, and I was confident that the other person would do a decent job at my...er...'job' SURE, I'd step down with good grace. But then...I haven't been bitten with the broadcasting, prime-time television bug...

Leno isn't the villian, and neither is Conan. They're BOTH the victims getting jerked around by NBC, who - as you already put it quite perfectly - wants to have its cake and eat it, too. If these grasping suits could somehow manage to air BOTH shows in the same timeslot, I'm sure they'd do it. (I was amused at how all this is being misrepresented in the media; flipping through the channels to check the weather when I caught a glimpse of Entertainment Tonight; a big graphic composed of left half pic of Jay and right half pic of Conan, with both pics darkened to be near silhouettes, and a bright red caption "Late Night Talk Wars" )

I never watch Kimmel but he spent an entire show impersonating Leno, terrible jokes and all. I think that takes some dedication.

If I recall correctly, back when Leno got the tonight show and Letterman got his own show, Letterman was actually beating Leno in the ratings for two whole years before Leno finally started to beat him. Oh well.

Why don't they just give the show back to Johnny Carson? Even with the handicap of being dead he's still funnier than Leno.

I've heard some rumblings that jay just wants any talk show, so, if true, let me offer this solution:

We ditch jimmy fallon, give his show and the roots to carson daly, and let leno host last call, because no one will watch him anyway.

edit: whoops, well jimmy kimmel made the same mistake.

Fixed. Seeing as Johnny Carson is DEAD. The NBC line-up at present is Jay Leno, Late Local News, Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Last Call with Carson Daly.

Johnny Carson retired 17-ish years ago and died not long after... So yeah.

Just ditch Jay Leno. I disagree with saying he doesn't want The Tonight Show. He never really wanted to leave to give it to Conan, he was FORCED out by NBC, then all the indian giving started..

The only time I have ever watched any of those shows was so I could watch Graham hit himself in the balls. Beyond that I do not care.

I'm totally Team Conan.

Mainly because Conan is the classy one here with the above statement. He's pointing out that NBC would be ruining television history, not tooting his own horn and being hilarious all at the same time. By shifting back the three programs to after the news, you're essentially putting Leno back to the tonight show, and people (the uneducated) will continue calling leno the tonight show host.

in short. NBC is dumb and Team Conan all the way.

Well, the contract states that Conan may not have a television show until September 1st.

Here's my thoughts:
He does best with the 18-34 demographic.
The 18-34 demographic is largely internet based.
Conan isn't allowed to have a TV show.
Internet broadcasting is taking an increasing market share.

So, the solution is pretty simple...

Killing spree.
