Okay that should just be part of police mandatory training now.

"Theres a riot down a snowy hill? Well toboggan your way into the action! Saves time and you look so cool while you do it the rioters may just stop then and there"

I wonder if its possible to go surfing with your riot shield...
Nothing to see here.

The article says they were only there for "a few minutes" but I know a well-used sledding hill when I see one. :D

See, now if business like that was encouraged we'd likely have less police brutality.

Haven't British constables always been considered as the much more polite and jovial version of American policemen, anyway?

Wait, UK officers get reprimanded for using their shields as sleds where as US officers and military personnel can get away with nearly anything?

*shoots a biker in the head and it narrowly misses him and his 3 year old*

*has people from military say what a good person I am*

*gets 4 months in jail*

What the article didn't detail was the riot that was going on at the bottom of the snowy hill.

You know, in Pittsburgh, you can't sled in public parks because the city doesn't want to be liable for anyone who gets hurt...

People have been ignoring it anyway. Theres nothing like a good sledding

Here I thought this was going to be a MW2 noob-tube rant. I was pleasantly surprised. Riot shields are made of ballistic poly graphite or an analogous material, sledding isn't going to harm it. Maybe it's more of an indicator that the area is so stable that the police need something to do.

Still, I call riot sled/riot stick sled jousting!

That REALLY made me smile. Ironically enough, I was only just today watching footage on youtube of South Korean protesters attacking police with a FUCKING FLAMETHROWER: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kMi7Jkay0fY

I saw this on the news the other night.. It looks a lot of fun right?

Have to say it's funny to see adults getting told off for sledging... sure they were on duty but out of context, you can imagine the police looking all bashful with their heads down.

I find it funny that they could be doing SO many worse things than this, and yet they get their asses chewed out. Oh well...

I can imagine them getting their asses chewed off as its not really propper behaviour for a police officer, but that hill is just ASKING for it. As long as they had no other duties at the time I see no harm in letting loose a little every once in a while.

Holy shit... which bright spark had the idea of a flamethrower... they were lucky not to have the propane tank overheat and explode next to their legs.

Fixed that for you; that tactic was incredibly stupid and dangerous and unpredictable - could have easily ended with the tank turning into shrapnel that maimed or killed protesters (ironically the riot police would've been better protected from that sort of thing).

A gas fire (and I mean like propane or butane, not gasoline/petrol) is something fire departments hate; they can't really extinguish it safely, just keep water streams on the container so it doesn't overheat, rupture and explode like I mentioned.

But enough of the dumb luck of idiots, let's get back to the cool cops I want walking the beat in my neighbourhood! :D

My brother showed me a response to the riot shield video with some guy getting really touchy over the sledging antics, like not only was he completely over reacting and getting on his high horse one of the things he said was:
"do you think the riot shield was ok? no! it would be scratched!"

....

seriously?

A riot shield?

sliding on some ice?..

>_<
