Didn't think they were going to make another album, least that's what they said after Demon Days.

And what is this LLR that you speak of?

Sweet, I too thought they quit making albums. I haven't heard "Stylo" yet, so I'll get on that... right now.

As for favorite Gorillaz song, I'd have to say:

Fire Coming Out Of The Monkey's Head
Don't Get Lost In Heaven
Demon Days

You have to listen to all three of them in order streamlessly, but it's just perfect.

I knew they had an album coming, but I didn't know they'd already released a single. I'll have to go listen to that. But boy, do I love Gorillaz. I owe them a lot for pretty much getting me into music. Favourite song is probably We Are Happy Landfill off D-Sides. They've definitely got the best B-Side compilations of any band.

To tell the truth, I've heard bits and pieces of back tracks to the rest of the album and I think it'll be stronger as a whole than stylo, which seems like a good song that grows on you, but an odd choice for the first single.

Aye. Along with an Evangelion Rammstein AMV, AMV Hell 3 and Daicon 4 (youtube it NOW!), it was a Gorillaz AMV from long ago that really got me into music, at which point I basicly knew nothing about. Zilch.

Here's the song (Stylo)
I must say that I am really disappointed with it. Shame...

To those who are underwhelmed, what about Stylo doesn't appeal to you? Simply curious, because it seems odd that I like it so much while a few others have no interest in the song.

It "feels" very Gorillaz, but taken in a strange new direction. It's like they're funneling retro 70s kitsch into it, like I could see them kidnapping Magnum P.I. to this music. It gives me that old feel of the Gorillaz taking something recognizable and familiar and making it their own, making it somehow both almost sinister and soul-crushing, and yet full of a hypnotic and very groovy energy that makes you want to move.

The album name, Plastic Beach, has me wondering a tad, but between it and this first single, I'm very curious. Also, Tank Girl was fabulous, as always.

I really like the intro, even though it feels a bit like a demo or B-Side, but then the guest voice comes in and completely ruins it. I know they've had some odd voices interject in their songs before (see Stop the Dams), but I really don't like the voice. I don't know wht style it is in or anything, but I know that I don't like it.

This.

I'm a little underwhelmed by it, except I'm not completely sold on the intro, and I didn't mind the second vocal part all that much. My first impressions are not favorable, but the song isn't totally bad either. Maybe it'll grow on me.

Talking about Gorlliaz so much has made me listen to them, and I've suddenly remembered why they got me into music. If Plastic Beach isn't pure, 11/10 distilled awesomeness then I will be disappointed.

Murdoc's hijacked radio can now be heard on the Gorillaz site with another song from the new album. Its about 34 minutes so give yourself sometime.

I thought I'd zombify this thread, seeing as Plastic Beach came out last week. I've listened to most of it on youtube (but I'm gonna buy it as soon as I have the money), and although I'm a bit dissapointed, there are some really awesome songs on there. My favourite so far are Some Kind of Nature, Superfast Jellyfish and Orchestral Intro. But I've yet to listen to a full runthrough in the right order, so I'm looking forward to that.
I think that the rapping and collaborative stuff has really let the album down, though.
