A question for Paul or other administrator... (on passwords)

Apparently, the most popular password is 123456.

I remember that GameFAQs had a system that you couldn't use your username , a swear or the word "pokemon" or "password' as your password.

Does the LRR board have anything that stops people from putting in silly passwords like this. Making people put in numbers can be kinda obnoxious, but if you make your password 'password' you're just begging for trouble.

Apparently, in facebooks early days, "chuck norris" could get you into anything.

I visit bakabt and they posted a list of passowords users needed to change.

A userlist + these would get you into pretty much most forums with a lot of users :D

Okay, I think it must say something pretty profound about the demographic of that place if 'gundam' had more hits by itself than either 'sakura' 'pokemon' or 'naruto'!

That's the stupidest combination I've ever heard in my life! The kind of thing an idiot would have on his luggage!

I remember reading that a while ago. However, it turned out that only a facebook employee at their main office could access accounts that way.

You can get into many networks by using 'admin' or 'administrator' apparently.

uh..no. Unless you're refering to logging into someone's router that you've connected to. Pretty much every single unsecured wireless network i've ever connected to, i've been able to also log into their router using the default username and password. But that's not too surprising.

I'm sure the passwords used in the Last Minute video are blacked from being used.

There seems to be a few nice password checker plugins for jQuery:

http://mypocket-technologies.com/jquery/password_strength/

While not as good as server side checks, they are start to help encourage stronger passwords.
