Re: Internet Lost & Found
Bit of a necro, but I was trying to find a video that was posted here a while ago about motivation. It was in a thread where we'd talk about what we wanted to do, plans we had, things we were doing, and also included people posting motivational quotes. Then someone posted a link to a video (I think it may have been Alja but I could be wrong) about how you have to be careful how you tell people what you're doing. I think the vid basically shut down the thread, but it was trying to say that you have to say "I'm going to do this, that or the other, rather than I'm doing this thing" because of how our brains react to that kind of thing. I can't find the thread and I either didn't bookmark the link or I've forgotten where I saved it to.
I think it was on Vimeo or something, though it could have been on a Psychology site or.. I can't rememeber. I know it wasn't a YouTube player embedded in the site, at least.
Thanks.

Would that be Geeky/Nerdy Build Projects?
Thread wherein the overambitious but lazy discuss projects?

Re: Internet Lost & Found
It's not actually either of those... I think it was started more recently than May time. I think it had more to do with motivation than discussing what people were doing at the time. Ah well, I could take another stab at looking for it myself. Thanks anyway, though!
Re: Internet Lost & Found
Not sure if this counts, i't is on the internet though.
I've had some lines of a song stuck in my head for days and i don't know what song it is, i think it was done by five fingered death punch
here's the lines:
step to me, step to me, motherfucker
you've talked the talk now walk the damn line
step to me, step to me, motherfucker
you've talked the talk now your ass is mine.
any ideas?

Re: Internet Lost & Found
Some time ago, I found this image, probably on reddit, of a picture of somebody's cat that had been put through one of those 'what will you look like in 50 years' things. Now, when I want to find it again, my internet-fu has failed me.

Re: Internet Lost & Found
This isn't really "internet" lost and found, but I really cannot remember the name of the song or artist of a video I've been looking for. It's from the 80s, and features a guy (the artist who the song was released by) playing as part of a band of very bored looking supermodels in black skirts, white shirts and very red lipstick. If someone who knows what I'm talking about could tell me the name of the artist or the song, that would be awesome!

Robert Palmer, "Addicted to Love"?
Only white shirt is his, but that sounds like what you're looking for...

Re: Internet Lost & Found
Years ago, when No One Knows by Queens Of The Stone Age first came out, I came across a version on YouTube that had no guitar solo and just had the symphonic/orchestral bit behind the solo. I've never been able to find it again. Do any of you guys recognise what I'm talking about, or know how I could find it?

So I'm assuming this isn't it?

I really wouldn't know. I don't listen to them.
However, I did find something else that fit your description better, but every site was a bit shady, so I'm not gonna link them here.
The title on the shady sites was "No One Knows (Flute, Orchestra, No Solo, Backing Vox, Piano)"

Re: Internet Lost & Found
No sorry. I found that one too; the one I'm looking for is basically the same song, only without the guitar part in the solo. Everything else is the same. Thanks for looking though, dude.

Re: Internet Lost & Found
Sweet, thanks dude! Awesome.
...
You don't happen to know of any way I can download that, do you? The "buy" option for Amazon music takes me to a page on Amazon that says "did not match any products", and the link to iTunes doesn't seem to be working, either.

Re: Internet Lost & Found
I do not. I just happened across it. If you search the title on Google or something I'm sure you'll come across something, but I can't guarantee anything safe.
Re: Internet Lost & Found
If you don't mind some extremely grey legality, you could always record it off your computer onto Audacity or the likes, so you get a straight rip off of Grooveshark... It always works for me

Re: Internet Lost & Found
Two things:
Way back in the late 90s I remember a website called "College of Perpendicular Thinking" or something like that, one of the things there was "Define red in terms of pi" Searching for that last one only leads back to a different LRR thread. I can't find it anywhere now...
Also, around the same time there was a online diary (This was back before we had blogs) called "Confessions of a Porn Store Clerk" about someone who worked in a video store that rented XXX titles. I remember the store was in Chicago, and that it ended when the author got a job at Jellyvision, but haven't been able to find it any where since.

Archived here. First result on Google. Where were you looking?
I had the fortune to read this blog back when it was still being updated by the author. It's very entertaining, she writes well, & it's the reason I have both albums by Aqua.
Edit & Update:
The link above appears to be down but you can still find it with minimal Google searching for "confessions of a porn store clerk +Ali Davis." The real news tho', is that it has also been in book form since before this thread was even started. Check it out at Amazon.
