Siobhan, if you ever make it out this way, I will show you how REAL seafood is done. If the lobster has to wait longer than 24 hours between the sea floor and your tummy...

Change in plans - due to a massive snowstorm up-Island (50cm of new snow on Mt. Washington! 460 cm base!), my mountain climbing trip is canceled. So dinner with the fiance is back on. Times like this I'm glad I know how to cook well. Sarah's getting goat-cheese stuffed chicken breasts wrapped in prosciutto, seared and baked, with roasted carrots and a spring mix salad with goat cheese, walnuts, and grapes. And a pie if I have the time/inclination.

I just made myself a delicious mac n cheese casarole that was seriously yummy and I have enough leftovers to freeze (which makes me happy) and I also made myself chocolate covered strawberries for later and I plan on taking a nice long bubble bath later. Happy Valentines to me!

Now, I have to go do laundry because apparently the 10 hours i spent doing it yesterday wasn't enough.

I think fruit and nuts in salad is weird. Vegetables, ham/bacon/steak and croutons are the acceptable ingredients for salad IMO.

If you have the right salad dressing, fruit and nuts in a salad are delicious. If you try a salad with raspberry vinagrette and fruit and stuff its really good

Well, I think you're stupid.

Joking. But, it depends what you mean by fruit. Recall that tomatoes and avocados are both fruit. Melon, grapes, berries, citrus, apples, and pomegranate are all acceptable fruits for salad and ones I've used before. A favourite for lunches is to take a pre-made spring mix and add craisins and sliced almonds. Delicious.

My plans actually involve avoiding KFC. ...Also gotta love it when the guy waits for the girl to take initiative...that might have something to do with why people are alone. Nothing ventured...

I'll be watching AAAL and perhaps some L4D2 or something with some special someone(s) later. Happy dongs!

@TomBrend - Salad consisting of entirely candy acceptable on Vday.

I like my salads to be made up of spinach and romaine with bacon or ham, sliced red onions, and a honey mustard dressing. I also don't like fruit dressings much, though I think they all have their place, they're just not as good as a good thick cream based or balsamic vinaigrette.

Give spinach with sliced fresh strawberries and a simple vinaigrette a shot some time. Good stuff. Personally I'd toss in some pecans too, but baby steps.

@TomBrend you should try some craisins, raisins, or even grapes on your salad, it adds a different texture and flavor without being too fruity. And nuts add a great crunch. I prefer sunflower seeds myself.
I'd actually recommend some sunflower seeds, and/or some grapes for a salad like that, it'll add a little sweet taste to compliment the saltiness of the bacon/ham, and will add a bit of a freshness to the creamy dressing, if that makes any sense.
Try it at any rate, if you don't like it, what have you lost?

I don't like nuts in most foods. I like them just fine alone, but I hate brownies with nuts, pies with nuts, cookies with nuts, salad with nuts, etc. Fruit in salad I more find a little weird, I don't dislike it that much.

Danielle: I WANT CANDY SALAD. Also special someones? I am confused now.

Actually, we were unable to read it until you posted it.

Plus, if you had spent the entire day in bed, I'd assume you had a TV or laptop in your room so you didn't have to leave the comfort of bed to have fun.

Had Long John Silver's last night, so we had Jack in the Box lunch earlier, and now she's knitting a blanket for her niece and I'm sorting socks. :D

Ok, it's officially </3 as far as romancing young ladies go. I haven't heard back today from either of whom with I've been corresponding,* despite having sent friendly & simple Happy V-day e-mails.

I did however, dine out with the family so I still had a good time.

My borher decided to give me a valentine's day card. And by "Valentine's Day Card", I mean a "Congrats on your new Baby Girl" card.
