Re: What makes a man?
a real man is one who can admit that the first fifteen minutes of Up made him tear up, and that it makes him no less of a man! Do you hear me!?! NO LESS OF A MAN!!!

Re: What makes a man?
If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or, being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;
If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with triumph and disaster
And treat those two imposters just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with wornout tools;
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on";
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch;
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run -
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man my son!
- I'm just gonna come out and say it. Rudyard Kipling has some high standards when it comes to being a man.

Re: What makes a man?
I'm not sure of the exact number, but after a man walks down a few roads, you can truly call him a man.
But wait, he was already a man when he started walking down the roads...shit...one minute, I'm going back to the laboratory.

What makes a man? His mother's uterus... plus 18 to 21 years of living.
And then you've got a man!
And then you've got a man!

Well, there is such a thing as a transman. Balls make a male, but gender is a societal construct. </pretension>
Of course, then you have castratti, but that's a whole other matter entirely.
A man is someone who considers himself a man, I suppose.

I've got a step brother who doesn't have a penis or balls (trans-gender). Also what about people who have orchidectomies (i.e ball removal) because of cancer? What if they just have one removed? Does that make them a half-man?

Re: What makes a man?
A true man in this age is a badass hairy guy who can barbacue meat but not cook, clean cars, but not clothes, who scratches his balls, and who can attract women at his whim.
There are other types of men, such as wise men, classy men, sexists, nerds, and even gobstoppers, but i wont go into detail.

Not the balls on your body, fools! The balls... in your heart.

I've always liked the line from Boyz in da Hood.
"Any fool with a dick can make a baby but it takes a real man to raise his kids."
And I really think that one way to measure a man is by how he raises his children so yeah.

Truer words never been spoken. Real men don't disappear at the sight of responsibility...any responsibility really but putting kids first ahead of their own impulses or fears is the most honorable and desirable thing a man can do.
Actions really speak louder than words too...any man can say they'll do something and make promises however it's all in the follow through. Hence the phrase: "I'm a MAN of my word."

Real men know what other men love, and are not afraid to give it to them because they feel completely comfortable with their own selves. Or at least that is what I have been doing...
