Death at a Funeral oddity

Postby Intellectually funky » 25 Feb 2010, 06:55

A few years ago I saw Death at a funeral directed by Frank Oz and I loved it. it was hilarious and I still quote some lines to this day.

But yesterday my brother directed me towards this trailer http://www.imdb.com/video/imdb/vi1688273945/

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1321509/

which made me think of this trailer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=neCY4hh1wJg

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0795368/

go ahead watch both a tell me what seems amiss... WTF right? Its only been three years since the original one. I understand Sales demographic and everything, but COME ON! They even have the same short guy playing the lover. its done by the same writer but I mean really, Does Hollywood have no shame? scratch that, I meant any ORIGINAL IDEAS?

Yeah, the trailers been out for a while and it pisses me off too because the original was so good.

You can never replace Alan Tudyk EVER.

The original was amazing. The remake is way too soon and having the same actor play the gay blackmailer is just stupid. Alan Tudyk FTW.

I could see how the movie might not be some people's cup of tea, however, the idea that Hollywood felt that there was a need for a remake of this movie blows my mind.

I mean I could almost understand if it was in a different language the first time around, like say, "the Ring" or a bunch of other foreign language movies that have been adapted and made in English. "Death at a Funeral" WAS ALREADY IN ENGLISH. Sure they had accents, but COME ON!

It's a movie, there's a niche, and somebody sold the rights. I swear, we're 8 days away from Blackatar

It's only slightly more ridiculous than the plan to reboot the american pie franchise.

I've not seen the original, but I'm gonna take a wild stab, and say that it was a mostly British Film, and now they're americanising it. You know, like what they tried to do with Red Dwarf. And we all know how that turned out.

Thank you for reminding me of this, I have to watch the original before the new version spoils all the jokes :S

But at least Tracy Morgan is there being Tracy Morgan.
