Avocados are fruits. And aren't they high in fat? And aren't we really getting off topic?

Re: The Sex Thread
Biologically, a fruit (technically, a berry). Culinarily, it is treated (usually) as veg. Just like tomatoes.
And yes, high in fat - but a lot of good fat.

I used spoiler tags because it's not particularly easy for me to share things like that (opening up is one of the things I'm working on), and using the spoiler tags at least gave me the feeling of some control as opposed to just typing it out normally. Almost like a whisper would do, I suppose?aeric90 wrote:So while I know you're still processing things I have to ask; did you enjoy yourself and did you finish in roughly the time you would have liked to?
As a matter of fact I both enjoyed it and finished in what I would consider a reasonable time. I think my problem must have had a lot to do with who I was with. In hindsight, it's hard to get off when you're both un-attracted to and terrified of your partner. With my boyfriend last night it was... well, without making anyone uncomfortable with too much detail, It was absolutely amazing. Completely different than any of my previous experiences.
I think that is awesome and wonderful, and I'm really happy for you.

I think avocados are full of the good kind of fat. [EDIT: Ninja'd by Metcarfre!] Also they're delicious, and guacamole is even more delicious, and it's pretty sexy when you arrive home at the end of the day and your significant other greets you at the door with a bowl of fresh, homemade guacamole, so this seems reasonably on topic to me.

That is awesome Blitz! So glad it went well for you, and I hope it continues to do so. Just remember that you don't have to force yourself because you think it's getting better. If at ANY time you feel uncomfortable, make sure you stop and work it out. I'm sure your partner will understand.
As for avocados... there are some upsides to living in California. ^^

Mary Roach's book "Bonk" about Sex Science and her other books on taboo-ish subjects are all pretty great

The Ontario Court of Appeals has declared some anti-prostitution laws unconstitutional, greenlighting a brothel as well. They can also now hire drivers, bodyguards, and support staff. Open solicitation is still illegal, as is exploitation by pimps, of course.

What exactly is the definition of "open solicitation" in this context?

To inquiries regarding the exchange of money for the service of sex in public.
HIGHLY interesting is that the dissenting judges dissented because they felt this law should be struck as well.
Clearly this is going to the national Supreme Court.

Re: The Sex Thread
Something similar happened in BC last year. I remember reading it in the paper when I was in Vancouver for V-con.
Active solicitation means you actually offer your services. Passive solicitation means wearing revealing clothes and being in a place known for prostitutes. I'm assuming open solicitation refers to the active type.
Incidentally, the passive type was made illegal in France recently, and quite honestly I wonder how prostitutes are expected to make a living when prostitution itself is legal but pretty much all the activities surrounding it are illegal.
Oh, and the pimp laws around the world are rarely limited to exploitation, they include way more stuff, including helping a prostitute do their job. In other words, these anti-pimp laws often make it way more dangerous for prostitutes as they can't have someone who know where they are, when they're there, etc in case something goes wrong. It also typically includes "living off the avails" (living off the profits of someone else' sex work), which includes partners of prostitutes if they are homemakers or possibly earn less than their spouse, depending on the specific law.
(Anti)prostitution laws in general are baffling. They would have wanted to increase the abuse and exploitation of women, they wouldn't have been able to do better.
Anyways. Enough about the laws elsewhere, this one is definitely a step in the right direction, what with the ability to hire drivers and bodyguards, making it safer for them. Brothels are also typically much safer than using a hotel room so the green-lighting of one sounds like good news.

Re: The Sex Thread
Here's what baffles me: how is hardcore porn not prostitution? Seriously, you pay a woman to have sex while you film it.

Re: The Sex Thread
Solution: all American prostitutes (since it is illegal there), just has to film their activities, and post them online.
They can make double profit.
They can make double profit.
Re: The Sex Thread
I think it's one of these loophole things, if hardcore porn means that only one side is an actor.
Otherwise, the difference is that every side is acting, and therefore presumed not to have enjoyable sex or something. So because they're both being a victim, you apparently can't punish either of them (which is weird, what with prostitutes being prosecuted as well, not just Johns).
Of course that doesn't explain why producers wouldn't be considered pimps.
Or maybe the difference is that it's filmed so people can check what's going on?
Honestly, I think it's because the people who benefit from the sex do so indirectly, or something. I never quite figured it out. Maybe because this way disease is less likely to be spread?

Sadly this is far from the only example of sets of laws that don't make sense.
