The St. Patrick's Day Thread
Yes, I am aware of the irony here.
Anyway, ye can use this handy and well-appointed thread to post any and all Paddy's Day-related stuff (plans, bar tabs, er, outfits?). Try to keep the other threads clean, eh? I'll be getting enough of it in the real world.

Often outnumbered, never outpunned.
Note: in Ireland 'ye' is used as the plural of 'you'. It rather neatly avoids confusion online.

Re: The St. Patrick's Day Thread
I will be dining at the local VFW with my father. They're special of the day is corned beef & cabbage. Yum. Then I have an appointment with my dentist for a regular cleaning which will wash away the tasty flavours from lunch. Boo.
Later, I believe we're dropping Dad's bike off at the Harley dealer for them to install more chrome. That evening we'll be going to Team Trivia.
EDIT:
I declare all posts in this thread must be green!!

No, you fool, I'm being IRISH! And you can thank me for making your post green for you.
Proper sarcasm doesn't need its own font. Just word it well enough that people will be able to tell you're being sarcastic.
As if that will ever happen.

Much to my chagrin I wore my kelly green shirt last week, despite reminding myself not to (and forgetting obviously). I'm settling for olive green instead.

Re: The St. Patrick's Day Thread
I be Protestant Irish, so technically I'm orange.
But to play fair, here are my plans: try to get one last Shamrock shake, then making Soda Bread to go with my brother's Guinness Beef Stew. Though I found out about a recipe from @wilw that I want to try: his son's GF made Guinness cupcakes with Bailey's icing.

Can you post that recipe Tak? That sounds defrigginglicious.
(Not the soda bread.. I use my old recipe for that.. but the cuppin cakes)
I had a bunch of plans like I always do, to be silly and create a bunch of treats. Since I'm out of my element and have no real friends in the USA, I would only be making them for Wraith and I.. which is silly.
BUT, now I've got this nasty head cold.. so I will be doing sweet fuck all and being super jealous of people who get to partake in Irish funness.

HELLZ YEAH GREEN!!
I have no idea what I'm gonna be doing, as I've no idea when St Paddy's Day is... I might go out and buy some St. Patrick's Day Special Edition Sour Cream and Chive Pringles though! Just for the spirit of the day!
Edit: Oh, right... Its today... Might go grab myself a can of Guiness from the store on my way home... Hooray for me!

Re: The St. Patrick's Day Thread
I don't have a recipe for the Guinness cuppincakes. But my guess is that you substitute Guinness for some of the liquid for the batter, and then you use Bailey's instead of the extract for the icing. But let me see if I can find a recipe online.
*JFGI's*
Found it! It's from nookandpantry.blogspot.com:
Chocolate Guinness Cupcakes with Bailey’s Cream Cheese Frosting
2 C unbleached all purpose flour
1/2 C Dutch processed cocoa powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1 C granulated sugar
1/2 C light or dark brown sugar
4 oz./1/2 C unsalted softened butter
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 egg
1/2 C sour cream
1 12 fl. oz. bottle/1 1/2 C Guinness or stout beer
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and butter or line with paper cups 2 12 count muffin tins.
In a large bowl briefly whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
In the bowl of a stand mixer with a paddle attachment or with a hand mixer, beat the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
Add one egg and beat until evenly mixed and fluffy, make sure to scrape down the mixer bowl once in a while. Add the second egg and vanilla extract and beat again until light and fluffy.
Add the sour cream and beat in, then with the mixer running, slowly pour in the Guinness.
Sift the dry ingredients into the batter and slowly stir the batter until it is evenly mixed and there are no streaks of flour. Make sure to stop the mixer frequently to scrape down the sides and make sure to mix up any flour pockets hidden on the bottom of the bowl.
Divide 1/4 C of batter into each muffin cup, you’ll get about 20 – 24 cupcakes.
Bake at 350 degrees F on the middle rack for 20 – 25 minutes. A toothpick inserted into the center of a cupcake in the middle of the pan should come out clean. Make sure to rotate the pans halfway through baking. Set on a rack to cool to room temperature before frosting.
For layer cakes: baking 25 – 30 minutes, rotate the pans around halfway, a toothpick inserted in the center of the cakes should come out clean.
Bailey’s Cream Cheese Frosting
1 8oz. bar of cream cheese, softened
1 4oz. stick of unsalted butter, softened
2 C confectioner’s sugar
4 – 6 Tablespoons of Bailey’s Irish Cream
In the bowl of a stand mixer with a paddle attachment or with a hand mixer, add the cream cheese, butter, and confectioner’s sugar and beat until light and fluffy. Slowly drizzle in the Bailey’s, more or less depending on how boozey you want the frosting, and beat until completely incorporated into the frosting.
