We should remember to keep posting workout threads if only to bring masa back.
How'd that high fat/protein diet go masa?

Re: Workout
I just lift weights nothing special. don't think I could do anything on that list.
I will say that I have one of those super metabolisms. It gets annoying at time cause I seem to be hungry all the damn time. It makes it hard to study.... stupid stomach *growls* I can't win.

Re: Workout
So I guess this helps me out a bit too. Y'see, I need to lose about 65 lbs of fat off my body, but my dad is pushing "Biggest Loser candidate" easily. Also, because my mom is gonna visit her brother in West Virginia, the cooking responsibilities fall on me from Monday to Friday next week. I also see this as a challenge as to how well I can plan 5 nights worth of dinner AND try to keep my dad eating healthy during the day. I really do feel for my mom, especially since right now she has to deal with my sorry ass in the middle of an EBV flare-up. Anyway, I'm gonna do 5 nights of dinner using recipes from the book "Eat This, Not That: Kitchen Survival Guide". This is gonna be a challenge for me, but also seeing as I may end up enrolling in a culinary arts program eventually, the experience is gonna help anyway.
As for exercise, I'm not a runner or biker, but i may have to start doing something. My concern is that I live on the top of a mountain, and most of the roads in my neighborhood are pretty hilly and go from gentle to steep and back. So that has me concerned.
EDIT: Here's my menu for the week. I think I got it in some order.
Monday: Chicken Parmesan (340 Cal, 11g Fat/4g Sat, 670mg Na)
Tuesday: Pork Fried Rice (390 Cal, 10g Fat/2.5gSat, 720mg Na)
Wednesday: Ultimate Burgers (320 Cal, 12g Fat/6g Sat, 710mg Na)
Thursday: Chicken Lo Mein (490 Cal, 9g Fat/2g Sat, 680mg Na)
Friday: Turkey Chili (330 Cal, 6g Fat/1g Sat, 490mg Na)
Granted this is just the main course numbers but the rest of the dinner is pretty controlled. Wish me luck!

You're lucky I'm trying to find inner peace, or else...
Anyway, I'm trying to drop some weight, as well. 5'10", 250 lbs., and even though I carry it well - it only looks like I'm 200 at most - I can still see my middle expanding. I'm eating less carbos in my diet, plus trying to cut sodium - I just found out I have surprisingly high blood pressure. Walking helps, but I don't think I'm doing enough. It's usually about 3 miles a day. Fiancee is very supportive, though.

Re: Workout
I've been working out and trying to eat healthy and I need to lose about 80 lbs in a year. Since January I've lost 15 lbs which is a big thing for me because I am very very close to having diabetes. My insulin is crazy high and I'm currently taking medicine to "make it work better" (according to my doctor) and since my insulin is high, my metabolism is quite slow because my body is focusing on producing insulin and kind of not doing anything else. (or at least thats what my doctor is telling me)
My workout includes:
Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday: 30 min cardio (on a bike or eliptical) and then weight lifting for everything
Monday, Friday, Sunday: Swim for about 45 min to an hour
Wednesday: Off because I am usually in the lab/class for 12 and half hours and don't really want to do anything else
I try to eat less then 1800 calories a day and if I'm really good I stay around 1500. I use the iphone app 'lose it' as a counter and database.

Re: Workout
Does the army let you join if you have asthma? I know that here if your asthma is too much of a problem they won't let you.

I'm not sure about the current requirements. Back when I was graduating highschool I looked into it and met with a recruiter. Having an asthma attack after puberty was considered a medical disqualification from service. So, no military for me.

Re: Workout
You want to be 6 feet and 120 pounds? That seems... like an extremely bad idea. According to BMI that's fairly underweight. And I would heartily agree.

Re: Workout
I'm 5'10" and ~240 lbs. BUT for me, following Body Composition numbers, my goal weight is 183 lbs, which is like 8-10% IIRC. I think If I were to attempt to be a bodybuilder or something, "brick shithouse" would end up being an accurate descriptor.

Re: Workout
*ouch* Quit pushing me into this thread!
Oh hi, yeah, I'm working out too. About a month ago I simply stopped eating as much, just not hungry anymore. For stress relief I use the elliptical for about 30-45 mins, 5x/week. I'm working up to an hour on max resistance. In the past month I've lost 15-20 lbs, which is 2 notches on my belt. Another 10-15 lbs for one size smaller jeans and a new belt.
