Re: 2010 NHL Playoffs
Wooooo Habs, indeed! Just watched the highlights since I couldn't watch the game live. Looks like it was an amazing game and the noise from the Bell Centre was just deafening. Gill being injured sure helped Crosby out a little bit but he's still out of it. Still could go either way! Can'tw ait for Wednesday night!

Re: 2010 NHL Playoffs
*Sigh*
Not unexpected. I think Jim Hughson had it right when he said we lost this series in January - when we lost Willie Mitchell and never found a suitable replacement. The defence was worn down and injured and not up to the level of play of Seabrook, Keith et. al. Luongo is inevitably thrown under the bus by fans and foes alike, but not all of it can rest on his shoulders. Kesler, as suspected, was playing with an injured shoulder. What can you do.
Anyways, good luck to the Habs tonight. Bonne chance!

Sorry Canucks fans... I was rooting for you guys.
Re: 2010 NHL Playoffs
My long bet for the final was the winner of chi/van and phi/bos. So it looks like I'm betting on chi/bos. It'd be nice to have an original six final again.

Re: 2010 NHL Playoffs
Philadelphia could still pull off the comeback. Maybe.
We could have won this series without Willie Mitchell. Luongo had as many bad games as good ones. The Sedins needed to be better.
A lot of their goals against us are traceable back to specific mistakes, such as the Wellwood/Demitra mutual puck bobbling at the point on the powerplay last night.
But next year we definitely either need Mitchell back, or if his career is done, we need a legitimate number 1 defenseman. Our offense is really deep, and we have great 2-5 d-men.

Re: 2010 NHL Playoffs
I'm hoping Philadelphia pulls off the comeback. Mike Richards is a great player.
If Montreal plays Philly, I'll probably cheer for Montreal, but I won't be disappointed if Richards and co. head to the finals.
In the West, Sharks all the way. I like Jonathan Toews, but Byfuglien and Kane... Urgh.

Re: 2010 NHL Playoffs
Well, bollocks. My prediction still stands, but now it is PHI v CHI in the final and now I'm pulling for CHI. Though with my luck as of late, both those teams will lose in the conference finals and Montreal will get it.

What an awesome Game 7.
Philadelphia's series comeback rivals the Canadiens' playoffs for drama.
Still, I think the West is going to win it.

Re: 2010 NHL Playoffs
Indeed, that was a great game. I laughed at my friend who hates Philly. Say what you will, this is probably one of the most exciting playoffs in recent memory, if not in a very long time (well, at least in the East).
Currently predicting a SJ - Montreal final. SJ in 6, MTL in 7.
Edit; Also, this CBC article is hilarious; http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/stanleycup/story/2010/05/14/sp-cliche-s.html

Ugh. So I'd like to be the first to congratulate the Chicago Blackhawks on their Stanley Cup win.

Well Habs... you gave me more this playoffs than I would ever have expected. We've had a good run. I'm off to shave now.

Chicago in 5. But who knows? We could be surprised. I hope so. I'd like to see a long series either way.

Come on Philly!
the heart knows no greater tragedy than a breath that begins in love and ends in grief...
Re: 2010 NHL Playoffs
And thats that.
Super weird ending, such a great game and I was really hoping for a game 7 more than anything and then to end it with that goal (not a bad goal mind you) was just kinda a odd way to end the Season.
I was hoping for Philly but a bunch of awesome Canadian guys are bringing the cup to the right side of the border and in the end thats all that matters.
