Well, you won't know until you try. One or two pilot interviews couldn't hurt.
Just work out your banter a bit.
Think about what you want to say and work out some filler questions so there's no dead air.

I was looking into podcasting, and apparently Audacity is a free, friendly little program.

They are all in the podcast section, and I had to stop listening to Allen!'s because he sounded like a commercial air jet captain.

I've been thinking about it and I tend to find that with this kind of podcast they tend to pop more when theres more minds.
How about a panel of interviewers question the interviewee? Syncing up schedules would be a bitch but at least it would wind down the pressure on me and the interviewee. Natch, some day we could make it an interview of eachother but thats just my thinking over all.
Would anyone like to be involved in a panel of fairly established forum regulars interviewing one of the other big dogs? I just think it might be better. I could try doing a pilot on my own and see how that works but I think this way it would be more of a round table if you see what I mean.
Also it would give it more of a definate podcast feel. The focus wouldn't solely be on the interviewee + we could chat about other things like recent LRR vids and the fan reaction as well as other LRR news.
Tell me if Im being crazy to even pursue this or if you want in please. Obviously it would be a couple of months before Project: Community would get off the ground but I think it might be cool.
Nothing to see here.

Hey, I almost forgot about this thread! Well, I may be late to the party, but least I brought beer.
This forum was the first I signed up to that I actually intended to spend a lot of time on. Being unfamiliar with the community, and seeing the kind of usernames regular posters had, I was reluctant to use my usual username, based as it is on my real name. I cast around for a favourite song title or lyric that sounded like a username, and came up with this.
...No, no, it's not World, Hold On. Do I look like my username is ChildrenOfTheSky?

A few years ago, my group of friends decided to assign a Greek letter to all of us. Mine was Delta, so I just use that on all the forums I visit.
Except...
Every forum has a different variation. this one's sir, others are other things like Mr, Esq, or adding some numbers to the end.
And that's that story.

Re: Whats in a Username?
It's a long story. Bit boring though.
My first year Art class (2004), we had to design or copy a CD cover. I opted to design, because there weren't many good ones in our house.
I had an image in my head that I wanted to do, and I made up a band to work towards that.
Basically I wanted to have a floppy disk as the cover art and some snazzy square font. The name though. They had to have a good name. Then it came to me. Program is a good word, associated with computers while not being TOO obscure. Give it some CAPITALS for old-school style (the only programs I had seen thus far being BASIC). Cool, but generic. Hm. Needs an identifier. Hey, I'm playing Final Fantasy IX at the moment! That'll work. Awesome.
PROGRAM IX.
Did the cover, got good marks for it (I was about 11) and thought no more about it for a while. Then wanted to get a webmail address. Decided PROGRAM_IX would be a good way to go for that (didn't know it would be rendered all lowercase but it didn't bother me). Used it (once I think) on GameFAQs or similar. Used it on Bebo (that was the big one). I had another 'internet-only' name because I was paranoid but PROGRAM_IX was my personal nickname, if you know what I mean. I'm older now so I don't need that other one anymore. Started using it exclusively after my 17th birthday last year, I think. I may also be spotted online as PROGRAM9/program9, ProgramTheNinth, or simply IX when I can get away with it.
Edit: I love my username. It's unique (enough - all the Google responses but one were me), it fits with my nerdiness (PROGRAM) and my eccentricity (IX).

Often outnumbered, never outpunned.

Normally I go under the manes of either The Z Master or Alzran but as I was signing up to join the forums I found this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBMxpDbp51A and remembering how much joy cookie monster gave to me as a kid came up with MC Cookie.
Because dam cookie monster was king, hell he even used my first mane as one of HIS alter egos.

Ugh, we shouldn't be allowed to choose our handles when we're at a young, impressionable age.
I've been AlexDitto since at LEAST 2003, probably before that. I know I was registered as that on fanfiction.net when I met my first set of good internet friends. Blech! Alex because that is my name (occasionally I go for the more sophisticated Alexander, which is my true name, which I chose here to distinguish myself from Alex Stacey), and Ditto because... well, the Pokemon. I don't know why! I didn't put a lot of thought into it.
I've recently adopted a new handle, though, which I like much better, and means more to me. That's the nice thing about the internet: you can change your name when you feel like it. The bad part? All the old communities, you either change your name and lose your old identity (and everyone ends up calling you by your old name anyway) or you lead a double life. D:

Re: Whats in a Username?
I might be able to beat TomBrend, but I'm not sure. I crystallized as King Kool around 1993-1994, maybe.
Before I was King Kool, I was trying to get a name I identified with. My brother took one from Heroes of Might and Magic (that he no longer uses) and I found a character I liked, who ironically enough, looked like he was made of ice and had a K in his name. He was Kastore.
I thought that was my handle for maybe a few months, but I just didn't have much ways to use it. Sometime later, I decided to call myself King Kool, extracted from Megarace, the first PC game I ever played. King Kool was the leader of the Master Class, the rich speed game that inhabited Fractalian Space. I used to identify more with those parts of the game (if I made a birthday card, it would be attributed to Fractialian Industries), but now, King Kool is just my name. I don't go by anything else.
It was nice to be King Kool IRL for a bit at PAX, but that's another story.
Unrelated: King Kool, at nine letters, is damned inconvenient to type into old games that only let you have 8 letters, 6 letters, FIVE letters. Abbreviation would go from "K. Kool" to "K.Kool" to "K.K." to "K.K" for arcade machines. Only when I started PMing here more did I start signing PMs KK.

Re: Whats in a Username?
The nice thing for me is that in arcade games I can easily enter my high scoring name as "JIM".
My name is my Internet handle as well which is easy for folks to remember & easy to type as that too is shortened to "Jim" with no confusion. . . . Unless of course, someone is screaming it at the sky in rage. Then it's usually the full "Evil Jim!"

Re: Whats in a Username?
Back in 2001, I signed up for a Square fan forum as Seppydude - two of my favourite words of the time "Sephiroth" and "dude". I've gone by that one ever since, until:
Back in 2005 (a year into university), I was spending the summer with a bunch of my friends from the other side of the country. I hadn't seen them for a while, and we decided to swap stories about what we'd been doing. They all knew I was studying at uni, but they didn't know what I was studying. When I told them it was Computer Science with Games Development, they all looked at me blankly. It was then that I came up with my InstaUnderstand explanation: "Games Programming"
All of a sudden, my friend Lee comes out with, "Dude, you're super hero name could be GaProgMan - Games Programmer Man... get it?"
"Fighting for the rights of people all over the street where he lives, when he can be bothered to leave his house," I said in a macho-style narrator-type movie-trailer-guy voice
"Look GaProgMan! It's a plane, that's falling from the sky!" Shouted Roo
"GaProgMan AWAAAAAAY!!" I yelled, as I jumped to my feet, pointing to the roof of the pub we where in. They also jumped to their feet, as I ducked and wandered out of view.
Only problem is that someone has signed up for a porn forum using that name since I've been using it. So, a google search (as "to google" isn't a verb, in my opinion) of my username (which used to return my posts on forums, and my twitter) returns a whole bunch of porn related posts. Ah, well.

Thats ok, then. Hopefully they've closed the account or the forum's been shut down. Also, the deviantart is my account.
We had a real bad problem at my last work place (a school) because of it. Turns out that they (the school) wanted a whole bunch of e-tutors and that I would have been a great "test subject" (their words, not mine). I was allowed to pick my own username (that way the students didn't know who was helping them), and one of the students decided to google it. Then, all hell broke loose. I had to try and prove that the guy on the porn forum wasn't me.
This school, also keeps tabs on the facebook accounts of all staff and students, and routinely searches youtube to check for "offensive, or otherwise damaging videos and posts that would reflect badly on the school, it's students or staff." They name and shame anyone that they feel has posted anything that will reflect badly on the school, hoping that the original poster will take it down.
Nice eh? Didn't know that I was signing up to work for Big Brother when I took the job.

Re: Whats in a Username?
I've now used epocalypse (proper spelling épocalypse, capatalized or otherwise, although most net groups do not allow accents in user names) as a net handle for the better part of a decade. Although in most of the forums and groups I am a part of I am the only one to use it, I have occasionally been beaten by people who cannot get or spell "Apocalypse" as their name, in which case I go by either épocalypse films or épocalypse productions, or something similarly of the like. I am most proud of having obtained it as a google account. I intend to use it as a production name/personal corporation for the rest of my life.
The name has multiple meanings to me personally.
First, My initials are EP (and various logos I've created for myself maintain this theme, like the one used in my avatar)
The word itself is a dual language portmanteau word, from the spanish and portuguese "época" (like the english epoch) and the english word "apocalypse". I see it as meaning that at every ending there is a beginning.
TL;DR: My name is a pretentious attempt at being clever.
