Recent Movies Seen.

So I got Netflix because PS3 streaming and all a couple of weeks ago and had a chance to watch some things I normally wouldn't.
Mostly I've used it to watch MST3k and Torchwood as I'm not a big movie person but I do like watching movies once and while, and figured if I could get anything streaming then I'd watch more things. Well Netflix doesn't have too big of a selection (boo to no streaming of the Monty Python films) but I have found a lot of interesting movies on there.
Here's a few I'd like to suggest:

-OSS 117: Cairo, Nest of Spies.
It's a incredible silly French Spy Comedy. Honestly one of the funniest comedies I've seen in a long time. Unless you get easily offended by cultural insensitivity then I highly recommend watching it sometime. I hear a sequel was recently out in theaters.

-Tokyo Gore Police
Hyper Violent, Dystopian Absurdest, and pretty interesting plot, this movie is pretty awesome if you enjoy movies that Alex suggests on his show. In fact he my have mentioned this one. My favorite part? The mock commercial selling "SUPER CUTE!" razors to school girls that they can cut themselves with.
I think the effects where done by the same people that did The Machine Girl, which is also pretty awesome but not nearly as much. (Though that one scene with knife and pot of soup is pretty... interesting.)

-Chocolate
I watched this one just before posting this. It's a Thai Kung Fu movie that is really good. The fight scenes are similar to ones from a 90's era Jackie Chan films (meaning there's lots of clever ways the hero uses the environment), and were all really wonderfully done. The plot was pretty interesting too. Basically it's about a young (12~15) autistic girl who, with the help of her chubby friend, trying to raise money to pay for her sick mother's medication. The mother just happens to be a former crime lackey and well you see where this is going.
The girl who plays the lead role is amazing. She really captures the character very well and does an equally amazing job during the fight scenes.

So yeah... What are some decent movies you guys seen in recently?

I'm watching the Collector as I sit here. It's pretty much a bad Saw rip.

I watched The Road last night. I don't know what to think about it. It was very long and didn't have much plot advancement or ending.

Come to think of it.. the last good movies I saw were the Hangover and Kick Ass.

Iron Man 2 was very good. Possibly better than the first one.

Saw Iron Man 2 finally last weekend. Was okay. Not as good as the first. I think they could have cut Whiplash out entirely and made a much leaner and better movie.

I also watched Invictus on DVD which was very good. Being a rugby player it was kind of a must watch. Morgan Freeman was great as Mandela.

The Great Dictator, with Charlie Chaplin.

A little slow, but very good.

SHAME ON YOU!!!

Uh... does Kickassia count? If not, probably the first of the Evangelion remakes, preceeded by Avatar.

Prolly gonna watch Snatch and Casino tonight, as they're due back yesterday.

I also just got Netflix with streaming for the PS3. I'd really like to keep it, but not sure if t will fit the budget.

Watched Eraserhead last night. 108 minutes of my life that I'll never get back. :(

So, while I still can watch movies - looking for recommendations.

Really? I would have vastly preferred that they lost the mechs. At this point I'm am totally worn out on Iron man fighting armor suits. I truly hope moviebob was right, and that the avengers gives them licence to bring non-tech villains into the iron man sseries, because the idea of Iron man fighting another suited villain bores me to tears.

Overall Iron Man 2 had some brilliant character moments though, and whiplash was sweet for the few minutes they used him.

My list of recent movies:

Patriot Games: got it for 10 bucks (clearance!) at F-shop yesterday on blu-ray. Fairly solid political action-thriller. Typical Clancy. Good performance by Sean Bean. I'll be watching Clear and Present Danger this weekend sometime as well, as I got it from the same sale.

Blade Runner: Bought the 5-disc blu-ray this week to participate in the Blade Runner there. You can see that thread for my thoughts.

Hero: I remember this movie being better (when I saw it in theatres) than it actually was.

Surrogates: Dull. Gald i didn't see it in theatres. Nothing wrong with it per se, it just didn't hook me.

I watch MST3K a lot, so if that counts as a movie, the latest one was "The Leach Woman", but if it doesn't, last movie I watched was Iron Man 2, planing on seeing Prince of Persia soon.

Oh holy shit the first two are out already?

I'd heard they were doing it, I had no idea it was underway.

Watched Star Trek's 2 and 6 yesterday, I wanted to watch the rest but it turns out I don't have them with me. My opinions on them should be obvious.

I enjoyed Iron Man 2 enough to suspend my belief that he created a new element in his basement...

I also finally watched Tron and its crazy to see how far the effects have come and now I'm excited for Tron Legacy to come out

Four Lions, a comedy about Islamic terrorists in Sheffield. Directed by the madman Chris Morris.

Very funny, and thought-provoking. An overall brilliant film.

My date said that it was the only movie she'd ever considered walking out of. I agreed. The only good thing was we made out to keep entertained.

I just got out of Micmacs รก tire-larigot. It was great! Really funny. I'm a fan of Jeunet, though. Also, I've seen Exit Through The Gift Shop several times recently. Love it. At home, I rewatched most of the Batman cartoons and movies I own over the last two weeks. For some reason, seeing Iron Man 2 sent me on a Batbinge. Going to something else tonight, don't know what yet, and yeah... Kickassia too!

I watched most of Shrek in HD earlier today. Please don't judge me!

I also saw a few clips of Network (1974), which seems like a film worth watching.
