I have installed Linux on human communication. Glitches may occur until the wrapper for the proprietary empathy driver exits beta.

Re: This thread is so gay
It's not just this one student. FIVE gay teens, including this college freshman, committed suicide over "anti-gay bullying" in a month. The worst part? Their ages...
Raymond Chase, 19
Tyler Clementi, 18
Billy Lucas, 15
Asher Brown, 14
Seth Walsh, 13
THIRTEEN!? THIRTEEN!!!!?!?!?!?
It's official, this is a crisis.

Another thing that bugs me; Straight actor plays gay = "That must be a challenge" whilst Gay actor plays straight = No comment.
Why? It's just as challengeing for a gay man to kiss a woman as a straight man to kiss a man.

Re: This thread is so gay
It's probably hard for a straight man to play a gay man without falling into stereotype or camp.
Eg; NPH as Barney on HIMYM is a gay man camping it up as a stereotype of a straight man.

Why does hetero sound like it ends with genius but homo doesn't?
Sorry, I really tried to avoid being so pedantic about something that was posted two days ago and ever so slightly just possibly isn't entirely serious, but I'm really annoying like this:
Homogeneous is pronounced to rhyme with genius. You're thinking of homogenous, which doesn't rhyme with genius because it's missing that second E. Often the two are synonymous, but homogeneous also has a specific mathematical definition, so at uni we tended to differentiate it from homogenous, which was used in a more general sense.
There. Aren't you glad I'm here to point these things out?

I... I don't think NPH as Barney is camping it up as the stereotype of a heterosexual. If anything, he's closer to the stereotype of a womanizer but even that... Barney is just so weird. I mean, he's obsessed with wearing suits and playing laser tag, he has a really strange job, his apartment is in no way the stereotypical straight man's apartment... I think Barney's appeal is that somehow he's a convincing sleeze while still being endearing and without falling into a stereotype.

Hey LRR-LGBTA... please get involved in the 'It Gets Better' project. This isn't just about being gay, it's about being bullied and harassed. We need to let these kids know that they have to hold on and see it through. Check out the videos on YouTube starting with Dan Savage's video and then the others before making your own. Tell them about your experiences with bullying and how it doesn't matter anymore. I'll be making my own soon and I hope you will too.

This is SO MADE OF WIN.
For realsies.
Also, link to yours when it's up is necessary for continued win combo. With the residents (denizens?) of this thread I think we could get that combo to x10...

Re: This thread is so gay
This is wonderful. I've never been bullied, and I don't know how I would really start to make a video as an ally, but I want to do *something*. Ideas?
(Also, you used doobleydoo. You're wonderful.)
Edit: I mean, I've been bullied, all nerds have been bullied, but I haven't since 6th grade ish, probably, and my last thoughts of suicide (~sophomore year) were just from normal depression.

hehe south carolina
In addition to reiterating anti-choice talking points on abortion and backing "traditional marriage," according to the Spartanburg Herald-Journal, the senator went further and "said if someone is openly homosexual, they shouldn't be teaching in the classroom and he holds the same position on an unmarried woman who's sleeping with her boyfriend -- she shouldn't be in the classroom."

Re: This thread is so gay
I'd want to do one of the "It gets better" videos, but my suicidal bout was only last year when I was at my lowest in the police and don't know if that's what they're looking for.
I've never had trouble due to my sexuality and never felt suicidal over bullying. All my bulling stopped when I threatened to throw someone on a train track when a train was coming.

Re: This thread is so gay
It's not important that someone has suicidal thoughts or not. I was bullied pretty badly and I never considered or attempted it. It's important for people to know that they're not the only ones who have been or are being bullied and that it does end.

Re: This thread is so gay
haha, fuck, I just found out a guy who's currently going to my old high school is getting a MtF sex change. Honestly, it sucks for gays but trans-gendered people are treated much worse and I'm seriously worried about this kid and his safety
e;
like, seriously, talk to some of your friends or family about transgendered people and you'll hear some of the most disturbing shit ever.
