I've been thinking hard on this one. My answer is, "Maybe both?"

What we could do is have a thing similar to the navbar, where we have a subseries under the navbar. The navbar will have previous and next to whatever the immediate next LRRcast was. Then, maybe in a different color, the subseries would have previous episode in that series, next episode, forum links, etc.

Maybe for the main series, we have the "subseries" code is just a "LRRcast subseries" thing that's the same color, with the same elements?

I was looking at the wiki and we need to convince the crew to get a new picture taken of the crew, or add a new one as well as the old ones are nice.

Finally getting this sorted out. How does this look so far. It's still very much in progress.

Looks good so far. Needs improvement still, of course, but I like the way it's going. Might want to change the link color, though, as blue on blue doesn't show up well.

I made an attempt to automatically script the 'feed dumps sorted by hosts' table,

I think it worked very well, and thought I could replace the existing table. Anyone have any objections?

Boy, do I not have a clue how that page works. It looks OK to be, but I don't know crap about it.

I had a breakthrough with the LRRcast navbar.

http://wiki.loadingreadyrun.com/index.php?title=TestPage1

I finally figured out a way to have the conditional things go through two templates. I don't know how I didn't work it out before now, but there it is.

The navbar is almost done, but there's a little problem.

The three links down on the Navbar are: Listen to the audio, watch the video on LRR and the forum link. The audio and video links are identical except the audio is followed by "/AU," so the code just uses the video link and appends that to the end of it. The audio-only podcasts now have video versions, but they don't link directly to a page on LRR; they exist only on Youtube.

The video/audio ones have two buttons on the page. The larger button link to the video and the little Speaker button links to the MP3. But the audio-only ones link to the audio with the big button.

If the links to even the audio-only ones could be normalized so their video ones link to a page on the wiki, I won't have to find some odd workaround to connect the Youtube pages to the navbar.

OK. I think I've got it.

The only thing it doesn't do right now is, if it's a regular LRRcast, it doesn't have a way to link to the next non-subseries LRRcast directly. Subseries can jump to each episode AND to each LRRcast in chronological order, but I don't have that worked out for this one yet.

Is this a necessary feature? Should I work this out, or is this good to roll out?

I left the shootingby template as it was, and changed the music property to MusicBy, as that seems to be a clearly property name for credits. We could use music to mean what the music is (if it's some preexisting music, perhaps), rather than the composer/musician. I've also added MusicByPlain and ShootingByPlain templates, which cover a single person, and just add the property, without creating the heading.

@King Kool

I think "Vanilla" LRRcasts should probably be a subcategory in their own right. I think vanilla LRRcasts are just a subcategory of podcasts, although the Lrrcast was LRR's only podcast for much of their run. We could make LRRcast (as in vanilla LRRcast) a subseries of LRRcast (meaning all podcasts). On the website that's what the lrrcast archive does, it has LRRcast as an option to filter by. I don't know how easy that would be with your template.

I've started applies the smw templates to the regular LRR videos. I only needed to add a Boom credit template, where the first parameter is the credit heading (Beejoom, Boomsmith, etc). I've noticed that the ShootingBy template creates the header "Shooting:" whereas LRR videos usually use Camera. I think the different reflects the way LRR seems to credit their videos. Camera seems to be used for credits as part of videos, and Shooting displayed on the LRR site. I think we should use Camera: instead, which means adjusting the ShootingBy template. We could use Shooting for videos without credits as part of the video, but just having one credit for Shooting/Camera seems easier. What do you think?

Also, I've not included any smw data or template for the executive producers, as they are unlikely to create any useful data, as they were credited identically for all episodes of Season 11.

I plan to go through each season at a time, then use the data to generate automatic filmographies. I've add any templates we are missing, but I think we have most of them.

I would say use Camera rather than Shooting. I will try to do some of the conversions.

That's my bad, I created the 'ShootingBy' while making MtG pages. Personally I don't think it really matters if it's 'shooting' or 'camera' but why have them both? They are the same thing, won't it just confuse things?

Don't worry about it, I think Shooting was a reasonable heading, but I support Camera as the heading, as that is used in the actual videos. I'll change the template over. I was offering having both as just an option, I agree having just one is simpler, as they are essentially the same thing.

The category page for a podcast could be combined with the main article for that podcast. The two pages usually present the same type of information, with the category page automatically containing a list to all episodes.

The magnum rewatch pages were set up this way previously, with the [[Magnum Rewatch]] page just being a redirect to the category page.

Lord Crusher's recent changes undid that and now [[Magnum Rewatch]] contains a short summary of what the podcast is about, and a list of episodes. It has the categories magnum rewatch and mystery box. [[Category:Magnum Rewatch]] states that it is part of lrrcast, and since it is a category page, contains a list of episodes. It has the categories lrrcasts and mystery box.

Do we have a specific reason for needing two separate pages? Isn't it much cleaner to have all the info on the one page? The bonus feature with the one page is that the [[Magnum Rewatch]] page isnt mashed in with the real episodes on the category page.

I would argue having a separate page from the category page is cleaner for the podcasts. Having two separate pages means we have complete control over what is presented on the podcast page rather than the autogenerated content that is in a category page. Given that each of the podcast pages gives an ordered listing of the podcasts including extra data including the airdate and who was on the podcast we end up with videos listed twiced if category page is the same page. Although it does not seem that there will other pages associated with Magnium Rewatch than each episode and the page for the series, it is quite possible that other podcasts would have other non episode pages associated with the - for example a reoccurring segment or character.

It should be noted that each of the other podcasts have their own pages and that each of the video series have their own pages. Having separate pages isn't really any extra work. Philosophically I would like to keep the content of the wiki separate (the podcast series) from the structural elements of the wiki.

Given the larger focus on podcasts today it might be time to reorganise the navigation section on the main page to recognise this. Also Crapshots is now an 'official' LRR series and not just a side project of Alex and Graham. Also there should be some mention of Table Top Deathmatch as its is included on the videos page.

I desperately want to help the wiki, and have wanted to for a long while, but I have precious little time, energy or html experience to give to the cause. What do?

You don't need HTML experience. :) The Wiki has its own syntax. Also, the benefit of the Wiki is that no matter how much or little you can contribute, it's fine. You do what you can, and we all work together to make it better. :) If all you're doing is fixing typos and grammar while you're casually browsing, it's still great. If you're creating a bare-bones page with a bit of info on it, for others to later spruce up, it's still good. If you see work to be done, do as much of it as you're comfortable with. :)

So... according to Todd in the Shadows on Twitter (and other news sources, but I get all my news from online music critics), Blip is shutting down.

Great. How many more old videos are going to go offline NOW?
