The LRR wiki is back! Drop that baby and edit it!
Rather than bump the old topic I made, I propose this (or equivalent topic) be made sticky to keep it on our minds.
The LRR Wiki hasn't been updated in over a month, except for one case of petty vandalism and one case of spam.
As a LRR Wiki editor, I continue to falter because I do it in spurts. I work so hard one day on getting something up-to-date that I quickly burn out and don't feel like it for an extended period of time.
Part of the problem is that LRR makes three times as many videos as they used to, so keeping up is now more than just a matter of showing up once a week and making one new thing.
The Wiki is a great tool, and it's in a bit of a sorry state right now. As always, pointing this out will help certain parts of it get updated, and that's cool. But again, it's not a permanent solution.
Who has some ideas to keep the Wiki from falling into such disrepair? Have we lost our way without the shimmering guidance of Chrusher?
If this topic becomes the Sticky, then it will serve whatever purpose it needs to, be it a place for people to post as they update something, or asking questions on how to update certain things.
I hope this proposition will be taken under consideration. Please go to the wiki and help out.

Re: A proposal for a sticky topic concering the LRR Wiki
as is proven on at least a weekly, if not a dialy basis, people ignore the stickies. You're better off bumping the topics, or starting new ones, honestly. They'll get more attention.

Re: A proposal for a sticky topic concering the LRR Wiki
That is almost certainly true. But my experiences at a year-long topic like my 100-movie project makes me wonder if repeatedly bumping a topic isn't futile as well.

I need to get back on remembering the wiki too. Of course, these days I could only edit it during work. Then again......*ponders*

If it counts for anything, KK, I enjoy your 100 Movies... thing immensely. Sorry I haven't commented. Is there a blog it's hooked up to, or...?
As for the wiki, I realize now that as a long-time (to some) LRR fan, I should probably help contribute. Is there a good guide anywhere for learning how to do it properly, or is it a 'learn as you go' type thing? And does anyone need to give me permission to do it?

Re: A proposal for a sticky topic concering the LRR Wiki
You need to register an account on there before you can edit, as I recall. As for the editing, just take a look at the edit pages and how they compare to the final product, and you'll figure it quickly enough. Most of the upkeep just involves copy+pasting the previous week's page and editing the links/descriptions appropriately. Then, of course, update the previous week's page so the index thing at the bottom points to the new page, and add the video to the appropriate crew member's filmographies. Once you have it down, it only takes 5-10 minutes to completely update the wiki for each video. The problem lies in when people start to forget and it goes by the wayside.

Re: A proposal for a sticky topic concering the LRR Wiki
The goofy custom wiki HTML frustrates me to no end. This is why I never got very far into editing for Wikipedia or the Homestar Wiki. I'd like to contribute to the LRR Wiki (I've even completely transcribed a video & its commentary) but it may have to be by proxy.

Ok, then. I guess I'll just make this the "The Wiki Needs You More Than It Can Say" topic that I'll periodically bump when things start to lag.

Re: Have YOU edited the LoadingReadyRun Wiki today?
Hopefully I will have decent internet and a decent computer at home in little over a month so I can get back to doing the wiki on a regular basis. Right now I only have a netbook and watching a single video is a battle.
We are all made of star dust. However we are also made of nuclear waste.
Remember to think before you post.

I have been intending to do some wiki editing. I just haven't had an awful lot of free time recently.

Re: Have YOU edited the LoadingReadyRun Wiki today?
Bump. I added a few articles, and I'm adding pictures to the primary cast who don't have pictures. I'm trying to write some bios, but then you realize things like, "Man, I don't know anything about Ben Wilkinson. He's so private..."
Also, has Melendwyer always had the rank "Grand Wiki Theodore" or am I completely daft? Or both? Where is he when we need him the most?

Re: Have YOU edited the LoadingReadyRun Wiki today?
Melendwyer won a podcast contest as I recall, and was granted the title in recognition of his efforts. I'm pretty sure he's not around these days though, I believe he went by "Pious Flea" for a while, but I haven't seen that name around for a long time either.

Then what do you think you should do?

Re: Editing the LRR Wiki! It supports, lifts and separates!
Alright, I've been tooling around the wiki for a bit now. The Videos page is up to date (links to pages, anyways) along with the category sub-pages (ENN, Unskippable, Phailhaüs). The LRRcast page is up to date (again, not really "new" entries, but all the links are there), a page for TGwP, added screencaps and such for some of the more recent videos, and quite a bit of formatting for consistency was done.
In short, lots more red to take care of.

Re: Editing the LRR Wiki! It supports, lifts and separates!
So... I have a complete transcript for "A Brief History of Lame", as well as its DVD commentary. Any volunteers for adding it to the video's Wiki entry?

Bump, I've added Evil Jim's transcript. If anybody wants to do any additional formatting for easier readability, feel free.
