According to Paul: The wiki is down until they can move to a different server because MediaWiki has problematic performance profiles and sometimes causes problems with the LRR website

Well, yeah. We've known that for a while now. I can't do anything from here to fix that, and pretty much every time I email the crew, I don't get a response.

Whatever. I'm just glad this is finally happening. Hopefully this fixes things.

I hope it does as well, It's just inconvenient for me. I am in the middle of a project that involves a lot of LRR and Desert Bus references and not having access to the wiki is taxing even my frighteningly comprehensive knowledge of LoadingReadyRun Trivia.

Oh well, it's not like my project is time sensitive, DB11 isn't for another almost-year

Hey folks,
I know I've talked about it before, but I have *finally* had the time and motivation to move the LRR wiki to its own server. Supposedly this webhost has experience with Mediawiki optimization and can do stuff like updates and plugin installs for us. As a temporary measure, the new wiki is located at http://lrrwiki.com Assuming that it is working well and everything transferred over properly, I will modify the DNS so that wiki.loadingreadyrun.com is the canonical url as before.

Wiki users/editors please check out the wiki on the new server, put it through its paces and let me know if you encounter any issues. I would also be interested to know how the performance compares to when the wiki was hosted on the LRR server.

Well, it certainly loaded faster when I just checked it.

I don't have time to do anything tonight, but tomorrow, maybe we can get this party started.

EDIT: I did some stuff tonight, but nothing big.

This Hat seems to be loading OK.

Hmmm.

Yeah, it looks really good!
So good infact, that the Phailhaüs pages decided to come back to life!

Allthough;
CPt episode "Pokémon GO Outside" is now "Pokémon GO Outside",
Live show "Adam's Gamehaüs" is now "Adam's Gamehaüs",
may be more but those are the ones I saw...

EDIT: It seems all that just reverted...

So, here's what I'm going to do. I'm going to get a bunch of pictures, maybe This Hats or Crapshots or whatever, and I'm going to upload them all at once. I think that's what broke it last time, so in theory, it shouldn't happen again on the new server.

It'll take some time to get all the screenshots, but I'll work on it when I can.

I can also do this with The Whatever Thing(Replacing the screenshots with ones from the DVD), which is something I was in the process of doing a while ago anyway.

I just updated the OnThisDay-pages and got a few 'page could not be found'-errors along the way. Mind you that janky pc is still running explorer, so that may have influenced…

Could you do one as an example so I can see how you're ripping them? I was pulling the screenshots from VLC Media Player, which makes them the perfect size. I just want to make sure, however you're ripping them, it's not going to make them too big or small or low quality or interlaced or something.

Yeah, I'm doing them with VLC, which deinterlaces, has the correct image size, etc. If you want examples, take a look at any of the Whatever Thing articles up to and including "Mecha-Jackson"

Okay, I've done it for every video except Limited Return. Since the version of Limited Return on the DVD is sourced from a YouTube upload, which is itself presumably sourced from the Revver file, processed by YouTube, the quality is pretty bad.
The screenshot currently in use for the episode appears to be higher quality than the YouTube upload, so presumably the screenshot is sourced from the original Revver upload. So unless someone can get an original Revver file of that video with a deinterlacer run over it, or if that episode's original, high-res file turns up on one of Graham or Morgan's old hard drives, the current screenshot on that page is the best we're gonna get.

Anyway, the images on the pages appear to not be loading correctly right now, but I'm guessing that'll resolve itself in a few hours.

The only people who might have it, if I were to guess, would be Evil Jim, Master Gunner or Elomin Sha. But MG and ES would have been on the board enough to see when the crew asked (I assume they did) and given it to them when they made the DVD.

Wait... since when were usernames case sensitive? I typed in Kingkool2099 and it said "There's no user by that name." But KingKool2099 worked fine.

...Okie dokie.

I don't remember anything about Limited Returns specifically. When I did a round up uploading screenshots to the wiki (many, many, years ago), I believe I was scraping the pictures LRR used for the video list and carousel on the site to use on the video pages.

I remember that, but that's not why I thought you'd have it. I just thought, at some point, you might have downloaded it from Revver.

EDIT: Oh yeahhh, that was something else I need to fix, isn't it? Those damn Feed Dump screenshots that had the Feed Dump logo in it, like a Wal-Mart Halloween costume of Sonic which has a picture of Sonic on the shirt.

IIRC, they were, and they did, but Revver added some strange advertising tags or DRM or something to the videos, which prevented them from converting the footage to any other format, thus making it impossible to put the videos on the DVD.

I'll have to check the commentary to be certain, but I'm pretty sure that's what they said.

But that's what happened with Green Noon and Wraith somehow converted that video for me to use. I'm sure it could have been done.

It wouldn't have been me, I was never really one for downloading videos.

I guess Graham just couldn't figure out how to in time for the DVD's release.
I do wonder what exactly Revver did to the video files to stop them from being convertible.

So It sounds like the wiki is working pretty well at its new home. Ironically, the separate server allowed it to stay online while the rest of the LRR site went down for unrelated reasons >_<

Assuming there are no issues, I'm going to set it up at wiki.loadingreadyrun.com in the next few days.

Ok! The wiki should be back at wiki.loadingreadyrun.com (lrrwiki.com will still also work). As always, let me know if there are any issues.
