The Mixed Emotion Thread

Postby Lord Chrusher » 09 Aug 2010, 04:12

We have threads about things that made you happy and that made you sad. This is a thread is for things that make you feel conflicting emotions at the same time.

As some of you know my father lost a long battle with cancer about six weeks ago. I got to see him see him a few weeks before he died. After he died we decided to wait a bit for the memorial. I am flying back to Canada tomorrow for two and a half weeks for the memorial. I am happy to see my family and friends and I am happy to go from a cold rainy Victoria to a warm sunny Victoria but I am sad to be going back because my father died.

Needless to say I am rather wound up.

I move out for the first time on September 5.

I'm scared and excited and worried and elated and hopeful and stressed all at the same time.
I can put my hands in my head, and I can laugh it in the face.

Been there. It gets easier. First thing I did when I moved into my apartment last year was make a cheese sandwich. Then I sent my mum a photo of it. Caption: 'doing fine'. :D

Today promises to be another beautiful day like yesterday was; low humidity, clear, sunny, with a cool, light breeze...

...but I have to work; as much as it's better to be working inside on a nice day (we have windows) than a shitty day, it's STILL work. :?

Please. Bacon.

I haven't been able to cook bacon in my own home for 3 years now.

When someone I deeply care about finds happiness with another person. I tend to get mixed emotions over that.

I got a D in calculus my second semester of being a senior, so my admission to UC Riverside was rescinded. I'm going to be going to community college for the next year or two, then hopefully transferring to a UC, but... Yay, I don't have to leave the Bay Area, which I would have missed, boo that I don't get to go AWAY to college like I wanted to reinvent myself and enjoy college like all my friends were telling me I would. (Also, because my parents are divorced, I would really have enjoyed having all my stuff in one place for once >.<)

Crusher, I am not sure if we are supposed to reply or just post our own, but I hope everything goes well while you are back home. It must be a really tough time for you and I hope you are able to enjoy being home even if the causes are not happy.

I hope it all goes well for you, and with risk of being a tad bit creepy I offer a internet-hug of condolences.
My father recently fell very ill and I have yet to receive word of how serious it is. It has been rough to talk to him on the phone because I can hear he's in pain, but still, I have never talked to my father like this before and now when this happened it just gave me an opportunity to be closer to him.

Every copy of "Dear Penis" by Rodney Carrington that playlist.com can find out on teh intarweebs is cut short (presumably demo tracks on vendor sites).

Even though I have one of his CDs with the song at hand, I'm simultaneously miffed out of laziness but also amused greatly from the juvenile humour potential...

I'm happy that because I am on the GAP year for a year, I can do things without thinking about the social repercussions that would normally accompany being with all my friends.

Downside is that I'm away from all my mates, and I would prefer a relationship at the moment, but this is made difficult by the fact I'm based at a school (obviously not allowed to be with any of the girls), there aren't any other girl GAP tutors, there aren't any really hot teachers, and I'm not the type of person to have a one-night-stand.

then again you are in aukland, one of the biggest cities in New Zealand.

it's just a shame kiwi chicks are no where near as hot as their Australian counterparts. I'm in a small town in Central NSW and absolutely swimming in hotties!

it's just a shame I'm not single...

I've spent a wonderful 10 days of relaxation with Lying. Now I have to go home. I don't want to. I need to; my mum's filed fr separation, my dad's looking to move out, my little sister is trying her best to deal with it, and my Nan will probably need some help settling in to the house again now that we've had new heaters and a new boiler system fitted. I don't want to be there, but I need to be there because I feel like, if i'm there but I'm not needed, at least I know I tried to help people.

Not to mention, in three weeks or so I should be moving in to a new house in Bath. This is the first time I'm going to be dealing with bills and rent and generally keeping myself alive. I mean, I moved out last year, but I lived in halls so I was kind of removed from reality. Now I don't really have an excuse to not get a job, which is both exciting and worrying. I'm looking forward to my modules for next academic year, but at the same time I'm dreading them. Theatre design, Stand-up comedy, and Commedia Del Arte especially. These are the most exciting things I could do, and also the most terrifying. What if I start designing and then the proffessor tells me my designs are cliche or impractical? What if I start the stand up module and I get stage fright? Or worse, what if it turns out I'm just not funny?

Anyone else find that, once you get that many emotions mixeed up, they all start cancelling each other out?

Met a very nice and good looking girl at hockey practice tonight.

She's the captain's daughter of the team I'm joining. She's also in her last year of school, but at another school, so it might be ok, it might not.

What might confuse things is the fact that I know the gappies at the school she goes to, so that might compromise things.

It's the attempt that counts. Good work.

Edit: 1000 posts. It's been a long road. That is all.
