I'm going to expand on the question a bit, if I may, because there's a difference between 'best' and 'scariest'.

Best villain? The master, undoubtedly.

Worst villain? I'm going to go for the Silurians, just because they were peaceful, but there was this one lady Silurian who was intent on killing all humans for no other reason than bloodlust. I mean, come on.

Scariest villain? The Weeping Angels. What can I say?

Least scary villain: The Adipose children. (although to be fair, matron was pretty intimidating) I'm sure it was pretty scary when they were bursting out of people's stomachs, but when they were waddling veeeerrrry veeerrrry sllloooowwwwlly down the street, it was just like "Umm, I could crush that with my shoe if I wanted. Why is everyone avoiding them?"

Well, the adipose children themselves weren't villains. The Matron was the villain.

The Angels weren't so much scary as they were startling. They have shock value, but they're not actually that intimidating. Hell, on any normal day, they'll only send you back in time.

Best villain? Yeah, the Master. Be it Degado, Ainley or Simm. Not Eric Roberts, though. We ignore him.

Worst? The sun from 42. Just a bit dull, really.

Sacriest villains are definately the Daleks. Menacing, cold, calculating and utterly inhuman. The reason the Daleks are voted as one of the scariest sci-fi monsters so often is because they are unidentifable. Even Gieger's alien has a humanoid body, but the Daleks, like the Thing, are completely inhuman.

Least scary villains are the Slitheen. Farting aliens =/= scary or intimidating.

Best villain: The master, Yeah that's just unanimous.

Worst: The big fat bastard from love and monsters.

Scariest villain: "The dream lord." Because if that is what is in the doctors mind, That darkness, Then what happens if he ever finally snaps.

Least scary: The slitheen. Yeah, they were just pretty shit, also fart jokes everywhere.

I would have mentioned the Valeyard, but the final episode of Trial of a Timelord I think he lost all menace.

Yeah, I have to agree with starting with Christopher Eccleston because the 9th and 10th doctor shared a companion and it set up the new rules and world with the "new" doctor situation. To appreciate "The Doctor" you have to see him in any his many forms and personalties he takes over the course of his storyline.

David Tennant is my favorite Doctor so far, he is an amazing actor and he said the one reason he started acting was to become The Doctor, and he did it for a long time, and made "The Doctor" his own. Matt Smith is really starting to grow on me though. If you get into the series much and find time look into Murray Gold and the music he has written for the series, The music is beyond amazing. Watch Doctor Who at the Proms 2010 after you complete up to Matt Smith's first season, that was a beyond amazing concert.

I don't know if this has been quoted/linked/referenced previously, but it sums it up for me:

Neil Gaiman wrote:The bit I think I was happiest with is about 16 minutes in, when I was asked what I would say to someone worried about having to know 47 years of backstory before watching Doctor Who, and I said:

"No, look, there’s a blue box. It’s bigger on the inside than it is on the outside. It can go anywhere in time and space and sometimes even where it’s meant to go. And when it turns up, there’s a bloke in it called The Doctor and there will be stuff wrong and he will do his best to sort it out and he will probably succeed cos he’s awesome. Now sit down, shut up, and watch ‘Blink’."

It looks like Australia will be getting Doctor Who a week later than the UK on ABC. The first episode is set for April 30th.

Okay. So I have to admit at this point that I love my boyfriend. He introduced me to Dr. 11. So yeah. I just finished watching "The Pandorica Opens" and "The Big Bang" today with him. I actually guessed what was going to happen and I actually got a few pieces right. But I have a few questions now. First of all, at the end of Cold Blood...
when the doctor pulls a piece of the TARDIS out of the crack, what would have happened to it when the Doctor sent the Pandorica into the explosion generated by the TARDIS?
As well, at the beginning of The Pandorica Opens...
there is a painting by Van Gogh that shows the TARDIS being ripped apart by the explosion. What would have happened to that painting now that the Doctor's corrected all the cracks in space and time?
Finally, there is something else that's bugging me.
How in the universe would have the cracks in space/time appeared in the first place? Gah! It boggles the mind!
So yeah. Sorry I haven't read through the rest of the thread yet. Oh well, my bad but you guys suck with all your arguments about who shows up where, and why they're not supposed to be there! :P

-Kirkygirl

PS. Also going to watch the Christmas 2010 special and Disc 6 of the 11th Doctor later. Bedtime now.
Of course I'm out of my mind. It's dark and scary in there!
Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.

To answer your answers is very simple...

He's the Doctor and Timey Whimey its-like-a-bubble-but-no-that's-not-it-at-all stuff.

Hope that clears things up.

As for the cracks existing, pretty sure that's going to be answered this season. I remember either reading or hearing someone from the show making a point about that.

Generally any problems you can't figure out because of time paradox and all of that is already hand waved by the episode Blink (watch it. Watch it now).

In short: Time is a big ball of wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey stuff.

So, Dave-O's right in his explanation.
