Re: Doctor Who
At one point that would have been called chivalry. Besides why wouldn't the Doctor want to protect the ones he loves? When all's said and done they're all he has left.

'Hide' is my favourite episode so far this series. Bloody loved it, not even going to post spoilers in spoiler tags No, really

Re: Doctor Who
I really liked the episode.
I understand why the writer was asked to write another (the crappy Rings).
Perhaps he is good writer. Just Ring's director let the episode down.
I liked it so much, I won't post spoilers. It felt like a full episode. No dead weight characters.

I enjoyed Hide. It felt like Blink to begin with but it tapered towards the end.

Re: Doctor Who
Good episode, nice upswing from the last two. There was a lot of things to care about, the professor was very well played. Had a Blinky feel to it but didn't quite reach there. A few interesting hints about Clara and an excellent performance from Smith.
Sit down. Get ready. Sit down again!

Re: Doctor Who
Fantastic episode. I'm really looking forward to next week, though. It occurred to me during the preview that the Doctor stole the TARDIS. There could be all manner of things hidden in her that he literally doesn't know exists. Maybe there will be clues about Sexy's previous owner? It'd be interesting, anyway.
Spoiler tag for the hardcore purists who don't want the slightest hint about upcoming episodes. I've been there. I get it.

Re: Doctor Who
I think there were a few plot holes with Hide. But the episode was that good that I didn't care about the holes. The Psychic being able to create a link with the Doctor and Monster despite not being biologically related. The TARDIS existing for way more time than stated in the pocket universe.
I really liked Clara's response to the TARDIS denying her to fly to the pocket universe. It was similar to The Doctor's trail of think. "Oh, if something horrid happens in 10 seconds. That means I have 9 seconds. That's enough"

Re: Doctor Who
Ah, but often plot holes like those can be talked around The psychic could create the link because her relative was there, but once the link was created once, she could keep creating it (practise makes perfect)
The TARDIS was being obstinant because it doesn't like Ozzy, didn't the Doc say they'd have 4 minutes or so?

Re: Doctor Who
Great episode indeed. As to the 4 minute thing, I can imagine some timey-wimey stuff going on where pocket universes are concerned. Time doesn't really have to proceed at the same speed there

Re: Doctor Who
I think it was 4 minutes in the pocket universe before the pocket collapsed. Which was also overlooked later, but.

Like they said a minute in the real world was an eternity in the pocket universe

Great episode, next week looks like it will be really awesome!
Re: Doctor Who
Very strong start, but tapered once the Doctor figured it out.

Re: Doctor Who
About halfway through and I'm getting flashbacks of The Unquiet Dead...
Just finished. Mmmmm I dunno. And I dunno about next week's either. Sorry, I just don't seem to be enjoying this series as much as I'd hoped.

This. This SOOOOOOOOOO much.
I loved the atmosphere at the start, it was really unsettling then they ruined it. his precesses of figuring it out really killed this episode for me(in a bad way).

Re: Doctor Who
I liked it, being absolutely not a fan of jump-horror, I preferred it once the Doctor started to understand things and did his we jaunt through the history of earth.

Re: Doctor Who
I'm not a fan of jump horror either, but I still think the first half of the episode was far better than the second half. The creepy atmosphere worked, but then you had major mood whiplash in the second half, and the remaining creepy elements from the first half just didn't work anymore and felt out of place.
A transition from a creepy horror/investigative story to the more lighthearted typical Doctor jaunt can work, and has in the past (Empty Child/Doctor Dances), but needs more time for a transition than this episode had.

Re: Doctor Who
I thought the last half still had a sense of fear, with that monster. It's just when the Doctor was stranded it all fell apart due to: Main Character Plot Armour.
In less something physically traumatic happens to the Doctor; when the Doctor is alone, it's not scary.
I thought the 'monster' was good. Suitably creepy enough. I prefer that the monsters now tend to be physical costumes. The CGI monsters have always felt a little... video gamey.

Re: Doctor Who
Yeah I felt the same - since the show is about the Doctor, the Doctor must get out of this.

Clara Theory: People elsewhere are starting to think Clara is normal. And the Doctor's Intervention actually causes her to exist in multiple times

Re: Doctor Who
I would hope though that it'll be a Moffat trick similar to The Wedding of River Song. Especially as the series finale is apparently when the mystery of the multiple Clara's will be resolved.

Yep, I think that I'm excited for that.
I don't want to know.
