Re: Doctor Who
Not sure how the initial story reported a hundred, but that would really have been too good to be true.
Still, with those extra 9 newly found episodes the number of missing episodes now drops to under a hundred.
I wonder how far it'll get in our lifetime (not counting cheating by reshooting).
Mara.

What if Alan Turing came up with the test because he was actually a robot and wanted people to find out?
Re: Doctor Who
Okay, we decided to spend Thanksgiving weekend watching Doctor Who. We've seen all six episodes of The Enemy of the World, and loved it. Highlights: Patrick Troughton in a dual role, surprisingly competent female guest characters (though that's perhaps just to contrast them with Victoria Waterfield), a story created before I was born that's set now-ish (given that the permit in one helicopter expires in 2018), a brief mention of Canada in passing, and a story that was fun in spite of being a little convoluted and contrived.
My recommendation: Give the Beeb some money to encourage them to keep doing this, and watch the serial.

Re: Doctor Who
Well the new Day of the Doctor teaser succeeds in telling us even less than we knew before.

Literally the only thing of any note is that Matt Smith specifically says that events will be as a result of The Name of The Doctor.

Re: Doctor Who
Classic: I'm hoping that at least one episode of Power of the Daleks is discovered at some point, or maybe some of Evil of the Daleks.
Modern: I'm happy that Day of the Doctor is going to be broadcast worldwide. Also, I'm looking forward to the new insights into the Time War.

Re: Doctor Who
The Evil of the Daleks is the serial making me look forward to improved special effects tech. I want the lost episodes recreated by a dedicated director working off the original scripts, not someone trying to recreate how the episodes actually looked.
This is a Victorian-era story where a mad scientist used the power of steam to create an interstellar portal to Skaro. How cool is that!?

It's actually showing in Berlin as well, which surprises me to no end.
Now to see where I can score some tickets...

I slightly envy you guys seeing it on a big screen.

Re: Doctor Who
I will watch it at home because I don't see why I have to travel across three counties just to get to my nearest cinema.

(Starting place isn't exactly where I live. I'll happily share the country I live in to strangers on the internet. But I don't want to share the village/town/city*.

The Vancouver November 23rd screening sold out in under 90mins...
I was lucky I woke up super early and managed to score 4 tickets. 1 for myself, 1 for a friend (yet to be determined) and 2 to raffle away on the internets. I kind of wish I had gotten 8 like I was originally considering! XD

To clarify, it's not a raffle that gains me money, but to be used for promotional purposes to raise awareness and support for a local community run convention I'm involved with. I'm donating them to the cause.

Re: Doctor Who
Ah, good.
Anyway, I'll be watching the episode at home with friends and then we'll probably eat after and spend the whole meal discussing the various points of it while trying to figure out the confusing things that Moffat has probably written into it(Remember the story arcs of Series 5 and 6?). Not that that's necessarily a bad thing, though.

And thus, the spoilers begin, and I attempt to shield myself from them all.
See you guys after the episode(As in, I'm not looking at this thread 'till after I've seen it).

To be honest, 8 days have passed since the last activity. You won't notice much difference.

Watch it if you want.

Re: Doctor Who
Hmm, well there goes my theory of Hurt being an elder form of McGann, though it would seem by little measure.

Re: Doctor Who
So so pleased to have McGann make a reappearance in some form or other, just a shame it's not a part of the TV broadcast really.
As for what number this'll make Capaldi, that all depends on whether what happen in that mini-sode means he died and started from scratch or what? Only Moffat knows I suspect.
This also goes some way to reinforcing Ecclestone's grim nature, being a direct follow up not just to the version of the Doctor that fought in the Time War, but one that was specially regenerated to be a warrior.

Geoff_B wrote:So remind me, does this mean that Peter Capaldi will be The Final Doctor (as he's now number 13 not 12)?
Time Lords can acquire more than their default twelve regenerations (and in fact the limit was only introduced to give the Master incentive to be in a certain episode, and clearly he got more regenerations somehow), so all being the thirteenth would mean is that he needs to do a story where he acquires more regenerations.
