Re: Doctor Who
I tend to agree - and I'm on board with it. A theme for me throughout this series has been that an entire episode would irritate me... only to turn it around in the last five minutes by being aware of the things that irritated me.
That's hopeful.

Re: Doctor Who
Well, I didn't see that coming. Only issue I have is the trailer from last week and the placeholder image on BBC iplayer basically spoiling one of the twists.

Re: Doctor Who
Well, I thought that was ace.
Bit of a mood whiplash considering who is (normally) much lighter then this. But no complaints from me at all.
And I had no problems whatsoever with it being the master. I feared it was going to be River, but that seems a deliberate misdirect.
And cyberman skeletons thanks to x-ray water? Fucking fantastic idea as far as I am concerned. Because thats whats inside them. All. The. Time.

Re: Doctor Who
It was when she said he was her boyfriend that I first suspected who she was, at which point the name was added weight. I've always thought that there was sexual tension between those characters, though it's been downplayed in New Who. Look at her entire motivation for interfering in Trial of a Time Lord, for example: "I will brook no rival!"

Re: Doctor Who
I want to know M's agenda.
I love the set up and the plan (which is disgusting, but smart).
It will be ruined by M's desired resolution to be rubbish.
Shame the preview clip for the episode and the iPlayer thumbnail spoils the minor reveal.
Hey, at least the major reveal is hidden (in plain sight).
Next part will be very interesting. I think this is the first 2 parter where the second part is interesting, rather than exciting.
We haven't seen the plan in action at all. We don't know the plan. We know it's been activated and how it has been started. But we are in the dark. It's not like the cliff hanger starts in the middle of destruction.

Not a fan of most of this episode. We'll see where the next episode takes us, though.

Part of me wants to get back to all the things Clara had set out on her 'post-it chart' - I know the ILY was an important one...and one that got interrupted with...and led to the whole actual story, but...some of those...

Re: Doctor Who
I liked it.
It was an excellent finalé, complete with(Almost) everyone either dying or leaving.

I don't know what to think yet
My expectations were not met. As in expected direction of the episode. I need time to reflect.
I felt Missy was brutal, but I also felt like we didn't get enough of her.

Re: Doctor Who
Imperfect, but overall I feel not bad; it fitted in with the general theme of the series, and I felt left Capaldi's doctor in a more assured position of itself, and in a position to kick on into a role he suits somewhat better.
The stinger, however, made me want to ram my left arm forcibly down Moffat's throat.

And now I'm not gonna get it. Get bent, Moff!
Welp, there's that 'rule of three' that people were hinting about:
*Osgood - who could been seen a the archetypal Whovian expy - is just cinders and some broken glasses; I think 'The Grand Moff' is trying to send a MESSAGE TO US? I think we ALL just got stuffed in the fridge.
*Danny - damn, now what I wanted, but it was pretty perfect for his character. *sigh*
*Missy - bah. (s)he has ALWAYS managed to come back from oblivion; this is actually makes me feel LESS safe than if UNIT had locked her away.

Welp, lemme know when someone else takes over this show; Davies had an obsession with Doctor Sex, while Moff just wants to fuck the loyal fans - I'm kinda glad he hasn't tried to 'reinvent' classic characters like the Rani or Romana; I hope he never does. Liked Missy on balance, but...
I'm really getting tired of the rote "Doctor gets outdone/runs out of ideas/despairs...and then some offhand remark or tiny inconspicuous thing incomprehensibly inspires him to The Answer (pun not intended); it's not a BAD story mechanism...if it wasn't the only mechanism that Moff used. I'm just getting tired of it.
I WILL watch the Xmas Special, but only for some actual closure - seriously, we've been told Clara departs in that episode, and yet we KEEP GETTING SOLEMN SEPARATIONS EVERY DANG WEEK - QUIT CRYING 'WOLF', Steven! Oh, and I wanna get my wedding band outta Moff's stomach - I took pseudo's idea...and it wasn't nearly as satisfying as it seemed it would

Re: Doctor Who
Danny's character was kind of ruined and his speech was not needed. Such a promising two part episode became a meh. Kind of guessed that the 'salute' was going to happen.

Re: Doctor Who
Fantastic stuff, really enjoyable and some incredibly strong character moments. Its great a show can have the confidence to mix the humor with the grim stuff.
Only nit-pick plot wise was;
Hopefully it will be explained later. Moffat seldom leaves a plot thread hanging.
Wasn't enough to spoil anything either way. Humor, drama, sci-fi ideas. perfect.

I don't think Moffat purposely wanted to annoy long term fans.

Re: Doctor Who
What do you mean?
Clara and Danny could have slept with each other and Clara could be pregant.
I was expecting The Doctor was going to drop it in conversation at the end.
Doctor: Grats on being pregant!
Clara: W00t?!
Doctor: You didn't know?

Re: Doctor Who
The whole thing just felt like a letdown. I can't really think of anything specific, but the first part got me really excited. All the mysteries of the season were dovetailing together and I really wanted to know what was going to happen now...
And then it happened. And it wasn't remotely satisfying.
Whenever the next season comes around... I can't even honestly say I'd be interested in it.

Re: Doctor Who
I'm assuming shes pregnant too, its just much more simple then any split timeline scenario. Plus generally speaking Moffat writes time travel like that. Occasional "boot strap paradoxes", but never "its never happened" style stuff.
Hopefully. I always wanted The Master to be a companion but I don't think they will being him/her back from the dead quite that fast. (Mind you, they didn't find her Tardis did they? Thats presumably on earth somewhere lying about).

And then the companion from the past was among the cybermen wandering about (along with Jamie, Amy, Rory, and a bazillion iterations of Clara).

I'm surprised that there wasn't an army of Infinite CyberClaras.
Spoilered because it was mildly spoilery and THE FIRST POST OF THE NEW PAGE
There wasn't also a giant chocolate T Rex eating cereal.
