I'm mostly basing it on them waking up right next to the container, and it being Doctor Who they can do whatever they like.

Naturally, as Doctor Who is pretty much the poster boy for Applied Phlebotnium and soft science fiction, after all.

"It's almost like it was scanning me."

The flesh is sentient, it copied amy/rory just because they were there.
Jen flipped because, as we've established, she's a freaking psychopath.

also i'm gunna put my money on second doctor gets acided saving the real doctor and chooses not to regenerate because two doctors is just... well one doctors too much for people to handle, two of them!?

And no the series two second doctor doesn't count because "lol parrellel universes!"

I'd love for it to turn out that following the Storm the Doctor, Amy and Rory left taking all the humans with them.

Everybody left on that Island is Flesh, they just don't realise it...

Chepstow castle apparently, from my source who used to regularly get woken up by Dalek Battles or booted out of Uni buildings so they could film.

I hadn't considered Amy and Rory being flesh... But it makes total sense. For the rest of the series I am hypothesising that 200 year older Doctor from episode one is flesh and because flesh can apparently make people very nearly fully human etc (See when Jenn goes fully human lookingish). Was put back in time with no Tardis to poke about and have a good life, until the timelines intersected. Which makes some sense as their is no indication of a TARDIS in the first episode when Amy is going through the Doctor's saucy past, and him not appearing with a TARDIS then.

Also bear in mind I believe that this coming episode will be the last until later in the autumn as the BBC is experimenting with the Top Gear method of Production wherein they produce 6 episode series 2 times a year to make sure there's more budget and can have higher production values.

My (Welsh) girlfriend pegged it as Caerphilly Castle while we were watching. No idea which is right, and can't be arsed to find pics.

Also, there's two more episodes left in this half season thing. It's going to end on the first ep of another two parter called 'A Good Man Goes to War'.

According to Doctor Who Confidential, the outside and a few of the rooms were Caerphilly Castle, and the inside was a mixture of Cardiff Castle (really long corridors), St Donat's (courtyard) and Neath Abbey (crypt/flesh tank room). I think they mention filming at Chepstow Castle as well, although not specifically in the segment describing the locations in DWC.

And I don't know if I should spoiler this or not, or if its even been discussed yet, but what happened to the shot Doctor's TARDIS in episode 1?

I must have been to caerphilly... I've been to so many castles in wales :S.

Heck, even my LARPing group have easy access to two castles (like, within walking distance of the site)

Exactly, so which rental shop did he leave his TARDIS with?

You know, I was thinking about this. This episode, by itself, was pretty "meh" you know? Maybe, combined with the next episode it'll actually be really good.

But, I also think, after The Doctor's Wife, any episode would have just fell flat.

Also, the flesh doctor hypothesis is a good one. I really hope there's something more to it than that though.

Yeah, it seems a tad too early in the game for the solution to be so readily presented.

Watched it this morning. I agree with Graham, this was definitely the weakest episode in the series so far. It all just feels... unnecessary. And a bit forced, like they had a concept they wanted to execute and just kind of wrote around it, fiddling with bits until it seemed almost plausible, but if you look at it too long, it's all just a bit silly.

The Gangers aren't really scary. Why do they have to be? If they're just copies of humans... they're only as scary as the humans they copied. Which means they're not that scary. Plus, the "abilities" they've seen them display don't make sense either, given what we know about the fleshy stuff.

I really, really don't think this episode is going to tie into the first episode astronaut stuff we saw. Moffat wouldn't rely on another writer for plot points crucial to the resolution of his story arc. No, the flesh Doctor's going to be gone by the end of the next episode, mark my words.

And I have a feeling the resolution to this episode is going to be pretty disappointing.

Definitely, easily could have been a tight little single-episode piece dealing with the fallibility of memory and the true meaning of identity. Instead we get lots of running and weak expendable characters.

Re: Time Lords going from male to female to male. Nothing says Time Lord gender has to work like humans' does. We have to be careful not to impose our preconceived notions on alien biology... after all, distinction between genders is really mostly a cultural lie anyway. :P

Forced. That's the word. Thank you!

Also, the random stretch-arm and "let us liiiiiive!" part was completely left-field and felt so wrong.

Agreed, though that character is all over the place in this episode, from delicate to violent to strong to warfare.
