I'm just trying to wrap my head around the timey wimey stuff that is going on, and will be going on, and has been going on.

Actually, I get the feeling that this particular conclusion will be a bit more subtle than that. Probably not objectively subtle, but relative to the last one anyway.Geoff_B wrote:So bets on there being yet another almighty cosmic reset button?
Not least because last time, it was the whole universe in danger to begin with. This time, it's just the Doctor getting killed (or at worst, Earth being taken over). That's pretty small-scale, so even if ridiculous shenanigans are pulled, they can't be too ridiculous.
An engine that both consumes and creates malice.

Re: Doctor Who
In enjoyed the episode I guess. The cybermen storyline was quite cool and James Cordan was good as Craig again.
The last 10 minutes seemed to spoil it for me though. I'd have possibly prefered it if there was more mystery about what was happening in the last episode but the twist seemed to take away some of the mystery of what was going to happen.

Re: Doctor Who
In the Sarah Jane Adventures with the epidoes "Death of the Doctor" the lines of;
SJS: I was sure if you had really died I'd have felt it.
Doctor: I'm sure the whole universe would.
Ok, that's RTD's writing so it may conflict with the current series of Doctor Who, but logistically speaking, 'why does the doctor have to die exactly?'

Because he keeps stopping the plans of bad guys.
Essentially, this is Doctor Who's equivalent of The Dark Knights "kill the batman" plan.

My money is still on a flesh copy of the Doctor. I'd like to be proven wrong though, I've been spot on about everything else so far this season...

Re: Doctor Who
Stabilised flesh is an exact duplicate, in theory it would be able to mimic the organic mechanisms of regeneration.

Re: Doctor Who
Well it's been definitely marked as an organic trait, given that River had an early evolution of it, and that there are toxins that can stop the Doctor regenerating (Judas tree). Its precise function is still a bit hazy though.
Extra lives as a defensive trait would definitely be an excellent evolutionary trait.

Re: Doctor Who
There was one line of thinking that regeneration wasn't natural to the Gallifreyans but was part of the technology introduced by Rassilon.

Re: Doctor Who
It would be like if Captin Jackharkness and Doctor #10 were able to reproduce and both had a black member in their previous genetic heratige (assuming it's not regeneration-related).
Though, that's given me an idea. Given that Time-Lords can regenerate and completely change their physical form, what genetic material is passed down to generation and generation? Also can they change species (form of)?
Besides the obvious reason as to why the Doctor won't die for good (as the series must continue and Matt Smith we assume is staying), I have a strong feeling that River and the Doctor will have a child together.
At the end of A Good Man Goes To War when River makes her belated appearance, both the Doctor and her are standing by the cot.
The body language of River when she shows him the cradle is very odd. It's more than just a sexual lust or passion of lovers; it's almost, parent-like. River looks very 'motherly' when looking at the cot. I have a feeling the Doctor and River will have baby and they use the cot. However I'd imagine this will piss off many Doctor Who fans as the Doctor isn't allowed to sex it up or what ever I've read.

Why do you think that, though? Because it doesn't really make any sense.

Re: Doctor Who
But that's like creating a copy of the Doctor for the specific purpose of getting killed and I can't see the Doctor being down with that. Unless we get some heroic sacrifice back-of-the-head knockout thing going on.

Tick Tock goes the clock
Till River kills the Doctor
I think the last bit is:
"Tick Tock goes the clock,
He cradled and he rocked her,
Tick Tock goes the clock,
'Til River kills the Doctor"
You also missed from the prequel:
"Tick Tock goes the clock, Tick Tock goes the clock,
Doctor, brave and good, He turned away from violence,
When he understood, the falling of the silence"
and from Night Terrors:
"Tick Tock goes the clock,
And what then shall we see?
Tick Tock until the day,
That thou shall marry me.
Tick Tock goes the clock,
And all the years they fly,
Tick Tock and all too soon,
You and I must die.
Tick Tock goes the clock,
We laughed at fate and mourned her,
Tick Tock goes the clock,
Even for the Doctor.
Tick Tock goes the clock,
He cradled and he rocked her,
Tick Tock goes the clock,
Even for the Doctor."

She looks fondly at the cot because it's her cot.

Which is in turn her effort at revealing her identity to The Doctor: Besides himself, who else has slept in that cot? Answer: Melody.

Re: Doctor Who
My bet is going towards two possibilities.
One: Remember when amy was parting ways and said "If you see my daughter, tell her to come visit her mum."
Basically, Doctor dies, and what he says to river in the space suit (Remember that way back in ep one? where they speak out of hearing range before she shoots him?) is to do it, then amy rory and river go all timey wimey to undo what she just did.
OR
Two: Remember that silent you seen up on the cliff looking over them, again in ep one? They were prisoners (Remember how they were all cooped up under the sewers like prisoners or homeless people because their ship doesn't work?) and the doctors last act before it was to free them. And of course, something happens (Ok, i havn't figured out this part of hte theory yet!) but my running theory is the doctor walks up, starts talking, the woman comes in with silents dragging her, they imprison her and switch her and the doctor out using space age camo and nobody remembers it because "Lol silents!"
Most likely the first though. I will put cash money on the fact that it's the first of them theories.

awesome.
in fairness, called it on the 'previously...', but steampunk London with dinosaurs and Romans is fucking awesome.
