It's a 1997 Fiat Brava with a 1.6L 16 valve engine. It also has power steering and electric windows.

holy balls! I just spend 1300 euros on something.
I can't own something that expensive, what if I wreck it...
*slinks into corner, drops into fetal position and starts humming incoherently*

Also, this thread is now for showing off your transports/cars/planes/helicopters/motorcycles/hovercrafts/bicycle's/etc.

Great, so now you have viable attack craft for air, sea, and land.

*grumbles and goes to add more guns*

Your car is 6 years newer than mine and the only thing even slightly new in it is the stereo system which I had replaced last christmas. I've had a friend describe my car as "the kind of car you'd see the Mob driving around in" and ever since I've been wanting to get an italian friend named Vinny just to ride with me.

Not bad Dutch Guy, I don't know how it is in The Netherlands, but over here your insurance for your first car tends to be more than your car cost, so wrecking it becomes less of a worry.

It's alright Elomin, even if he mounts some guns on it we're safe. They drive on the wrong side of the road over there, he'll get confused as soon as he tries to get out of the ferry terminal...

My insurance is about 45 euro's a month (And then there's another 42 euro's in road-tax) so that's not really that much compared to the 1300 I paid to get it. (I was aiming for a car of about 900 euro's but when looking around I quickly realized I better just shell out the extra 400 or so to get a car that'll last me for at least a year without needing repairs.)

That is exciting, but honestly I find the "I'm in Europe!" flavour of the photo in general the most exciting thing. How I long to go back.

My first car cost £600 (€730) and I paid about £100 (€120) a month for insurance. Mind you I'm still paying £45 (€55) a month...

And you made a good call on getting a slightly better car, I probably paid for that car again in what I spent getting it repaired for a couple of years. I was sad to see it go, that car helped me to do a heck of a lot.

Rockin' a 2002 Hyundai Elantra. MY insurance is $150/mo (CAD). For 'yeah, I drive it once in a while' usage.

Damn Vancouver car thieves...

as far as insurance costs, I must admit that it helps I live in the eastern part of the Netherlands, as theft rates are lower there. And I am "already" 22. If I had lived in the west, and been 18 this car would have been either A: Uninsurable or B: cost over a 100 euros a month to insure.

not my one, but the same year and model

a 1.4 Skoda Fabia, cost me near 3 grand and is about 700 to insure for the year
but, it was owned by some old people and was in damn near perfect condition.

Skoda's are pretty decent cars. (The modern ones are basically just volkswagens) My parents have had skoda's since I was about 6 months old, so I know them pretty well. (First one was the old fashioned favorit, great cars, especially due to their simple design. I can say from experience that changing a starter motor on one of them litteraly takes an hour, including finding all the rusted screws someone idiot put in later. We used a favorit as a cable car while gliding in the Czech republic the last few years, and we've never had less trouble with a cable car.)

New problem for me, I forgot to take the road-tax and insurance payments into account when calculating my new bank balance. Bottom line, I'll have to convince my parents to loan me 200 euros more or I'm going to be flat broke. Yay me :(

Not my bike, but the same model. Mines a little more wrecked and doesn't have those fancy handbrakes (mind you, it has handbrakes, but more oldfashioned ones).

It works, haha.

(Getting a driverslicence cost so much!!)

Amen to that last one. But it is damn handy to have. I also have 2 bikes. Both in decent working condition. But I'm not a mechanical engineering student because I don't know how to repair a bike :P

My set of wheels is an '88 VW Golf, no power anything, 1,3l carbureted sohc engine producing fearsome 55bhp of power, but seeing it weights nothing, it has a fair bit of shove. The price was a whopping 100€, and everything in it works, which is nice. 247000km on the clock.

Golf's are nice as long as they work. Once they break they become deathtraps on wheels. (And as soon as something starts breaking, expect everything else to follow shortly)

I've once driven a VW Golf from work that simply stopped running every time you touched the clutch or applied the brakes. This made for an interesting ride. We also found out you can restart the engine on the go by going to second gear and letting the clutch up fast. It's not pretty but it works.

I'll have to take a pic of the Threemobile (related to my sig) someday. It's a 96 Buick Lesabre though, so I'm sure you all know what it looks like. It's really nice though and has lasted me two years with out any major problems, except that the trunk leaks when it rains, and that eventually flows over into the floorboards :(.

Yeah, it's called a push/hill start. If you drive stick (and you should) it's a good skill to have.
