I'm not entirely sure it is possible to measure my excitement in words. The tech test alone was awesome.

Argh, turns out I'm not gonna be around for the start, my friends have scheduled the night for us to all go see Harry Potter. A showing which starts 30 minutes after DBfH starts. BAH I say, BAH. (But they've paid for the tickets already, so I don't have much choice.)

At least I'll have a lot of time during the rest of the weekend, and at least I caught some of the tech run! And I've got lots of money ready and waiting in my account, too. PREPARE FOR MONEY, CHILDREN. SO MUCH MONEY.

Won't get to see the start of it. That sucks.
Someone record that kickoff.

That?^ Is officially awesome.

I'm likely to miss the start as well - one of my co-workers is leaving and we're going for farewell drinks after work. Fortunately, I have most of next week off work so I can watch Desert Bus until I run out of internets.

Whee!

Edit: And the donations have just passed $4000 as of 21:30 PST!! :D

Elomin Sha wrote:Desert Bus means a bit more to me this year than the other two I've attended. Earlier this year my little brother, who had just turned 3 at the time, had to go in for a major heart operation at Bristol because 75% of his blood wasn't being pumped by the heart. He was at Bristol for nearly two weeks before he could come home. There was a complication during the op where there was an air bubble that travelled up into his brain and caused him to have a stroke and lose control of his left arm for a long time. I gave him my DS earlier so using the pen was a way to get control back when playing Peppa Pig.

Then a week after that he came down with strep and had to go back to Bristol Hospital for a few days then was sent to a hospital much closer to where we live. He had to spend two weeks in an isolation room that was 2m by 3m. With a hospital bed there isn't that much space for him to do anything but watch Top Gear all day on Dave (luckily I had him hooked on the show before hand).

When my mother and step-father had to go to Bristol they would have had to get a hotel room but it was fortunate that the hospital was part of the RMHC set up by McDonald's. They provided a bed for free for families who have to live go far away. So now whenever I take my brother to McDonald's my mother and I always donate because it was such a good thing. Anyone else who goes there I'd ask to donate to them as well because it saved such a hassle for my family because Child's Play does only reach so far.

My heart goes out to your little brother! I hope he doesn't have any more troubles. McDonald's providing beds to families is a great thing to donate to.

As Desert Bus 4 rolls onwards, I thought it would be cool to see how it compares to previous years as far as how quickly the donations have come in. I think it's fascinating.

Also, I'm looking for chat logs of Desert Bus 1 and 2 in order to get more accurate timings for the donation progress. So far they're only using milestone pic blog updates.

The plan is to keep this post updated. So be sure to check back as the bus rolls on.

My guess would be that was the start of Operation Infinite Bus, when the Penny Arcade guys pledged to match the next $10,000 of donations.

I'm just going to be stupid and stay awake as long as possible. 2am start, 4am bedtime, that's the plan with 9 hours to go until advertised start time anyway.

Yeah, I decided not to go. The Crew have enough on their hands without another jerk taking up Moonbase-space.

BUT I will be watching and donating!

Am currently in the middle of creating my blog for Mr.Strangelew or How I Learned to Stop Sleeping and Lose My Mind. This'll be the official blog that I'll be keeping updated once every three hours from now until the point that I fall asleep. Just to see my general downward spiral into madness and sleepiness.

My target is 120 hours. But to be honest if I make 12 hours I'll be very suprised.

I'm also going to be trying to record a vidcast once every three hours too just to see physical evidence of me getting worse and worse. That'll more be for me though. I doubt I'll do anything with the footage.

Anyways the blog is here if you're interested:-

Nothing to see here.

Good idea. I'm also trying to stay up for the entire thing, mainly to see more desert bus than any sort of stunt. A personal journal w/ video would be a good idea.

Anybody out there planning on watching the bussery on a Roku? I'm thinking of just letting it run in my living room all week... I think there's a "secret" ustream app out there, but I'm not sure it does more than let you pick from the most popular channels.

Don't know if this has been suggested earlier; but they should set up 2 chats. 1 For general talk for everybody. the other for bids and donnations so that they don't get lost in the sea of other talk like happened earlier

They have a method for dealing with challenges, bids and the like. they just haven't revealed the details yet.
