This post was completely and utterly incorrect.

My belief is that a Bothan dies every time the chat sees a milestone before the crew do. I.e. if the chat says "Congratulations on 45k!" before the crew realize they hit 45k, a Bothan dies. Kind of makes sense as the Bothans are suppose to inform them of money increases?

Not quite. I predict a Bothan spy will die within the next $500 raised.

I'm pretty sure that it's (Number of dead Bothans = Money raised / 2500)

Or one dead bothan for each $2500

Yeah I was in chat for it but made some food while they said what it was, so I missed it! Oh well, maybe I'll figure it out or eventually someone else will :P.

Also, I made this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-_ksxxR7AM
to inform my friends about Desert Bus. However, now I wish I hadn't of made it. I look horrible! And bald! Maybe I'll take it down.

I think getting them to read The Metroid Conspircy (that's how it's actually spelled) went over rather well. My friend's also been trying to get them to sing Professional Pirate from Muppet Treasure Island, but it looks like that won't go through :/

Is it just me or are a lot of non-Crew people performing a lot of the challenges this year? It's great that there are a lot of people there to support them and maybe most people in the chat aren't LRR fans, but when they're donating $50 for a song, are they really asking for Ian to sing them?

I love Desert Bus and all (and Ian is cool), but the general lack of presence of Crew is a bit disappointing.

And as I type this, Paul, Tally, Matt and Morgan are singing. Go figure. I guess I'm just not watching enough. I just wish there would be more Crew participating and less Crew trying to keep all the equipment running. :-\

Personally, I don't mind the help chipping in. I mean, it's fun having LRR sing. But it gets a a bit stale after Graham sings the 31598615th song. No offence to Grahams vocal chords.

It's nice to see someone new on the screen, and hey... the money goes to the children. You should be happy either way.

I do see what you mean, but is it really such a problem? I suppose if you want specific people to sing, one could specify so in the request.

I think it's a matter of how much (how little) I'm watching this year. I like seeing the Crew, but it makes sense that for people watching a lot of it would see Graham singing his 31598615th song. And anyone that wants to see a LRR member sing their song only needs to put it in their donation request.

I like LRR and I find it odd that I feel I need to apologize for it. ;-)

Automatic deductions are a pain in the ass. You made the bid in good faith, so that's what matters.

Yeah I think it's better when there's even more. The crew is fun to watch dance around but you get so many more people this way! It's great :D

I've updated http://desertbus-game.org/. It now includes a couple of DBFH hub/portal pages, the ability to start the applet in a pop-up window, persistent global high scores, a rolling demo mode and a bunch of other minor things.

It's also tracking the LRR crew's progress in realtime; including an educated estimation of how far they've travelled.

I had some grander plans which fell through for this year. Unfortunately I fell quite ill which prevented me from working on it (or anything else for that matter) - also caused me to miss the start of Desert Bus this year. :(

Regrettably due to my rush I wasn't able to extensively test the new features; if anyone has any problems please let me know.

Anyways on another note; I heard the call with Penn, and I just thought I'd mention/offer: I can provide an over-the-net remote-controllable desktop version of Desert Bus with controller/full-screen support (and probably whatever else you want) for next year if you like. ...Just saying.

I took a couple of screenshots that I can't now remember the point of, due to having been a bit loopy at the time and not actually labelling them. Does any equally crazy person want to help me identify them?

Is anybody recording stuff? If someone could record the Movie Bob call-in while I'm at work, that would be great.

AWW, Last year I had to ration my desert bus viewing to avoid being capped before the ending. Called the ISP and tried to get more data and they said it was totally impossible. we got like 20gig a month then or something.

BUS YOU Australian internets!

this year we have like 170gig or so.

yeah im on Aussie internets as well if i was back in nz getting more data could be done in a heart beat. im looking at my current plan which its been a couple of years since i updated it and ive just realized they my plan no longer exists and the new plan at the same price has 38 gigs more data im seeing if i can get it swapped over at midnight tonight.

UPDATE: everything has happened will be able to tune back in in about 12hours when my internets is updated and be cause of desertbus capping my internets i was able to work out a deal saving me some moneys some of which i will be passing on to the children.
