According to Google Maps, going the speed limit the whole way is about eight hours. Stopping for snacks and gas, probably closer to 9-10.

Interesting. You'll have to phone DB as you're driving.

So would it be possible for you to race the LRRcrew?

My car has an integrated Bluetooth system, calling in won't be a problem. It will buzz a bit, though.

"Racing" the crew...that's an interesting idea...

I'm just excited that I'm gainfully employed, so I can donate actual monies. Also, I was hoping to make the crew a pile of various veggie soups, salad, and pie to drop off. I figured homemade soup would work since you guys can just microwave a bowl of it whenever you need it.

Also, coffee.

The crew should sell custom forum ranks for Desert Bus.

That would be a great pre-event auction or contest item.

Speaking of.

During the event itself, we should have a little unofficial contest to see who can stay awake the longest. Of course, it would impossible to truly judge, and there wouldn't be any prizes, but anyone with enough beans could earn some serious cred.

7 hours, 23 minutes along the most direct route, according to Google Maps. I believe this also takes into consideration local speed limits.

I don't plan on offering my $100 per point challenge again this year (I like to donate for something different each year) but hopefully there will still be incentive to keep the crew driving carefully. It was very convenient for arranging to be online every time another point was scored. Let's try to beat 14!

Does anyone know if "Operation: Kill James" is returning this year? I was thinking that perhaps we could mix it up a little this year.

Rather than choosing an arbitrary number and say "James will drive for X hours if we reach X donations" it could be "James will drive one hour for every $1000 donated before the event starts". It means that to do what we had last year (12 hours) we need $12000. James may want to impose an upper limit of course but what do you guys think of the idea?

Of course, if James doesn't fancy dying... again, would any other crew member be willing to make a sacrifice for the children?

We should have a DB forums for polls and such that only the crew can create topcis in but people can vote. Itll increase users on the forums and makes voting or suggestions for topics easier than a 50mph Chat scroll

It does seem odd that there isn't a Desert Bus forum. Would make finding out about the event much easier for people browsing the LRR forums. (Though I think restricting it to crew only topic creation would be counter-productive)

Google Maps does, in fact, take into account speed limits. Like I said, I would expect an average run time of 9-10 hours each way with stopping for gas, photo opportunities, etc.

I wonder how much we'd have to donate for the LRRLive DVD to be finished.

About the equivalent of the gross national product of Belgium, I'm guessing.

Not quite that much but the LoadingReadyLIVE! DVD could be a good thing to get donations from the older fans. Most LRR fans were not around when LIVE! happened so I am not sure how much support there would be.

The crew announced it at PAX. Because people have set schedules, they would always end up seeing the same driver when they went to watch, so now they're gonna have longer shifts and more drivers. The new one being Kathleen.
