Dude I think you can make it all the way so I'm in for the entire 120 hours

Thankyou. I mean you're probs gonna be wrong but lets see what happens. Like I said above if people want to make this a real bet then just say yay or nay.

Hey Mac you should put a linky-loo in your post.

It would be tempting to do a 50/50 draw thing for this. Make a spreadsheet with slots for hours 0-120. $5 a slot. Winner takes 1/2 of moneys raised, Child's Play gets other half.

However, that may constitute gambling... semi-illegal.

Its charity! If pub quizzes can do it then I'll go for it. Don't worry it'll just be me who gets done. If anyone is seriously up for it then let me know. If more than 10 goes for it then I'll make it official.

It wouldn't necessarily have to be a 50/50 split, where money is the prize. We might be able to have some Craft-Along item as the prize, and then all the money goes to the children.

Just a thought.

That's actually a good idea, since a lot of craft-along items won't make it in.

I've done that my ownself at work because upon being asked what I was doing with my week off I decided just to tell them the truth. Mentioning that I would be happy to take donations once the full story had been told. I've discovered in my pursuit of this that it takes roughly 5 minutes of me talking to explain and describe the full situation just by the by.

AND! So far and this is no joke I have raised literally ONE ENGLISH POUND!

Depending on whether or not I have a job at Desert Bus time, you might have a partner for a large amount of that time, Mach. I'm not going to go all out and say "I'm not sleeping", but I'll likely spend a lot of my waking hours with the feeds and chat running.

Regarding Craft-a-long items, I made six items and packed them away, but I still have some supplies left over. I'd probably need to get some bearings again and maybe find something new to try out, but I may be able to help out with a "prize" for the winner. Let me think about it for a few days.

Well there has been exactly no takers for the Mac-Desert-Hell-Experiment. Apart from the very few people at my work. I was just wondering. Is it worth me putting up a webcam? Is that worth anything? I may pm Graham to see if he was interested in my own personal challenge.

Basically watch me as I become more and more of a bum and make sure that I am watching and not asleep. If so then how do I do it? If not then no worries.

Thanks Beta. Im glad to have the one of you guys locked down. Its a pity that there has been pretty little other interest in it outside of vocal support (Which I am SOOOOOO happy for by the by).

I'd probably watch a web feed of you just bumming around watching Desert Bus I'd probably watch a feed of Desert Bus watching you watching Desert Bus, but then I enjoy meta!
The easiest way to do it, I'd imagine, would be to set up a uStream feed and have a webcam pointing at you or something, but if you're gonna do that for several days straight, make sure your computer/webcam can handle it, not to mention if your internet provider won't charge you through the nose for uploading and downloading that much data (depending on the quality of the feed).

Plus it would make it easier to monitor how many hours you're awake for if you did do the sweepstakes thing. I might even take part in it and bet a couple more English Pounds Sterling!

Edit - As for accepting donations, maybe a Paypal account linked to a near empty savings account? Its fairly easy to set up a donate button for something like that!

Sorry I didnt see your post Myrph. You ninja'd my ass! Okay. No worries I have unlimited download from my provider so I assume I have the same for uploading wise.

I have no idea how to create a ustream account and how to actually do it. I do have a fairly good webcam though.

Basically Im still trying to gauge the level of interest before I actually set up a paypal whatever and all that. If a couple of people want to send money to the crew just sponsoring my effort then go wild. Its when the whole betting thing gets involved and the craftalong stuff gets involved that I have to start doing official legal stuff.

Exactly. I would also be happy during the DB to do my own paid challenges. Such as "MAC! Do the truffle shuffle for 10 dollars!"

Basically Im offering to be the shitty, boring version of DB for less money and with no resulting fame. I am literally offering to do this if only enough money for charity exists. Im not looking to make anything for my own personal fame or glory.

Whatever happens Im gonna try to make the 120. I just thought it might be a good idea to raise money for the children along the way.
