They may have higher budgets, but they also pad it out to half an hour.ecocd wrote:Get creative, because as Evil Jim pointed out people are posting these videos everywhere and that includes television programs with much larger budgets.
These videos will be about 1:30, and get right to the good stuff.
And we're being as creative as we can, I assure you!

Re: Announcing: Daily Drop (a new DAILY series)
Since the concept is so simple, when I first heard about this I thought it would be a bonus series just for fun for the site, & was rather surprised to see it hosted on The Escapist. Do you have a contracted number of episodes to do for them or will it go on indefinitely?

I'd imagine the only way they were able to rent the camera was via funding through The Escapist... which means they get the content. And fair enough, I say.

Cool. The trailer just makes it feel like you're dropping things into a square. I didn't get the feeling that these would be full 90 second shorts. Are you setting up each video to "pad it out" to 90 seconds?
Getting yet another Escapist series is mighty impressive. If you're not careful, you're going to build a large enough portfolio to earna talent contract somewhere. Kudos.

The LRR crew are eating dinner.
MATT: Hey Graham, pass the salt.
GRAHAM passes the salt shaker to MATT with an overhead lob, but MATT fumbles & it flies out of his reach.
Cut to slow-mo.

That just made the fish one even more epic.. If that's at all possible. If there was a back-story to the actual items.. Wow.
..Speaking of Wow. Drop World of WarCraft. That would get the little Escapists cringing!

In a sort of unrelated note, I'd like to see some Zack Snyder-esque action in a LRR video.

Screw that; I can't even watch more than 1 show each week!
This looks fascinating; I'll be tuning in for at least the first week or so, but damn, you guys:
...when do y'all sleep?!
On that note, how about you drop the curtain?

Have morgan drop his pants in slow mo and then midway through somebody dive tackle him
OR
have somebody dive in front of the camera
both times yelling noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

at 2000FPS

The Loch Ness Monster?
An engine that both consumes and creates malice.
Re: Announcing: Daily Drop (a new DAILY series)
Well, there's a brief intro, showing what that day's drop item is, then we show a wide shot of the whole drop in realtime, then the high-speed shot takes up the majority.
Then, depending on the result, shots of the aftermath.
We're not going to pad, each one will take as long as it needs to.

From the teaser & some basic logic, this isn't necessarily a very a labour-intensive project. It's entirely possible they did all of the necessary shooting for the Drop episodes in a single day or couple days. The rest is just the usual editing & uploading. Plenty of time to eat & sleep.

You don't need any more than that. It would be hilarious and disturbing and a viral video in a matter of days.

Re: Announcing: Daily Drop (a new DAILY series)
Besides, seeing as it is an expensive camera that they are renting, these drops probably only take 5-10 minutes for the setup and execution of the drops themselves, so I wouldn't be surprised if they can film a month's worth of drops in a single day. Matt's quote of 14 hour days is probably the overall time for a week's worth of ENN, Unskippable, LRR, and other projects (ie dicking around).
Re: Announcing: Daily Drop (a new DAILY series)
A mirror
A cup of coffee
A beaded necklace with the string cut
A bottle of moisturiser (open)
An Etch-a-sketch
Christmas decorations
Aluminum Foil
A can of shaving cream (upside-down)
Marbles
Sports trophy
Apples and Bananas
P.S. I think I have an old printer that doesn't work if you need one.
