I'm anxious for my Secret Santa vict... I mean, recipient, to receive their package but it will probably be a bit yet due to overseas shipping. I just hope they don't feel stiffed or left out. It's on its way, I promise!

GAH STUPID HOLIDAYS!
It will be posted tomorrow, or there will be bloodshed. =_=
At least they already have a card. But God dammit. Coming home for Christmas screws up every schedule going, and the ice which only thawed the other day did not improve things. Sorry Secret Santa recipient.

Note: in Ireland 'ye' is used as the plural of 'you'. It rather neatly avoids confusion online.

Re: Official Christmas Baking/Cooking/Craft/Secret Santa Thread!
Well I can't find my camera cord to save my life at the moment, so I'll have to give you the best text-based review I can.
When we first grabbed the package from the post office, we weren'e entirely sure who it was for. Somehow I missed the pretty blatant "Metcarfre" penned onto the envelope, not to mention the hand drawn LRR logo. However, I noted the Missouri return address.
"Oh!" I thought, "Missouri! How exotic."
I carefully did my best to steer my eyes clear of the Customs disclaimer for fear of destroying the anticipation. I eagerly poured out the contents of the envelope and, as previously stated, was flatly flabbergasted at the breadth of the contents.
Firstly was an amusing card (one of the ones with a small speaker inside) from my SS that was quite lovely. The card included a Venture Bros. patch and a "Go Huff A Dong" sticker made by our very own Kathleen de Vere.
Second I received a copy of the book "The Worst-Case Survival Handbook", a tome I accepted with great comfort. While I already have experience in such matters as shark-wrestling and emergency obstetrics, on previous occasions where it had been necessary to land aircraft I had deferred to my associate Felix. But no longer!
Third was a Hummer-branded sighting compass. It's sure to see some use on my next... er... 'hiking' trip on the borders of Mongolia.
Fourth was a well-loved Gerber multitool with sheath. This will find a happy home in my car, as I've been putting together a small tool/emergency kit for it.
Finally, I received a simply astounding game. A software pack that included not one, not two, not three, but five different Star Wars games; SW; Empire at War, SW; Battlefront, SW; Jedi Knight II Jedi Outcast, SW; Republic Commando, and finally my much-hoped-for copy of KoTOR!!!
Thanks, Secret Santa! You're the best! Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and God Bless!

Re: Official Christmas Baking/Cooking/Craft/Secret Santa Thread!
My Secret Santa package arrived a couple days before Christmas, but I haven't had the internet to be able to tell you guys about it until now x3
I received a Dutch holiday card with an adorable squirrel on it, a highly amusing letter entailing a story involving peacock wrestling, plus a set of miniature art canvases and an easel. It definitely made my Christmas extra special; Thanks sooooo much, Secret Santa! <3

Slow Santa is slow...sorry Jester! This is what happens when I have company for two weeks - lots of fun, but little spare time. In the mail by the weekend at the latest, I promise!
Um...happy new year?

I'm sure that his SS actually just amassed a noble assortment of awesome swag from items (s)he already had laying about his/her house and that the singing card (which was the most irritating one (s)he could find at the store) was what most of the limit was spent on.
... not that *cough* I would know anything about that...
Missouri? Exotic? That's one I've never heard before...

Re: Official Christmas Baking/Cooking/Craft/Secret Santa Thread!
Earlier today I made a chocolate cake with chocolate icing.
And here are the (links to the outrageously large pictures of my) results.
Ready and waiting to be iced.
The icing going on.
Me looking very sternly at the disobedient icing. It was so sticky it wouldn't stay on the cake!
Me scraping the pan around to get the last of the icing (very important).
The finished cake, just crying out to be eaten!
Hope you all enjoy both the pics and the cake the recipe results in. ;D
Chocolate Cake Recipe wrote:Chocolate Cake:
- 7 oz sieved self raizing flour
- 1 oz sieved coacoa
- 8 oz sugar
Mix together.
- 4 oz margerine (or butter, i guess)
Rub in.
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 75 ml (5 tablespoons) yoghurt (evaporated milk)
- 75 ml milk (or water)
- vanilla essence 1 teaspoon
Cook at gas 4 (180c or 350f) 30 - 35 mins.
Icing:
- 2 and a half 0z margerine
- 4 tablespoons coacoa
- 8 oz icing sugar
- 3 tablespoons hot milk
Melt margerine in a pan, sieve in the icing sugar and coacoa. Add a little milk (this actually only rarely requires the whole three spoons of milk) and mix until it's glossy. Waste no time getting it on the cake - it sets fast.

Since your package has to be touched by Canada Post at some point (ha! ) I haven't received it yet. I would be surprised if it was delivered before later this week. Still, they do surprise me every now and then.
Thanks for your patience!

Re: Official Christmas Baking/Cooking/Craft/Secret Santa Thread!
I know it's a little late for Christmas Craft projects, but I took this photo tonight for my PROJECT365. This is the felt ornament I made for Wraith this Christmas. I haven't sewn in a decade, so I thought it turned out decent. And thanks to the project 365 I got to make use out of my old star cross filter! Fun!
