Creepy Doll #1 World Tour

Postby psychopez » 24 Nov 2010, 15:20

Update: Google Docs Spreadsheet of Lil' Alphie's Tour:
http://tinyurl.com/2fsyqs7

www.lilalphie.com

So my Creepy Doll came in the mail today, and I was very excited. (Just earlier in the week I got a one of a kind Nyro Guillaume trading card. My week for limited edition memorabilia based on internet media properties...)

I saw that Creepy Doll number 31 was up for auction during DB4H, and I had an idea for him if I were to win it. Give CD31 a tour of my lovely city of Pittsburgh, PA, snap a few pictures of him/her/it at some scenic locations around town making things creepy, then send him/her/it to another person willing to be skeeved out while showing CD31 around their town, passing CD31 from person to person and maybe even ending back at the Moonbase next year.

I sadly lost the auction for Creepy Doll 31. But I saw that the one I was lucky enough to order was number 1. Lil' Alphie.

So, I ask the LRR community, who would be interested in housing Lil' Alphie for a day or two, showing him around your neighborhood, grabbing a few pics of it, then willing to part with Lil' Alphie to send him (And any souvenirs he's acquired along the way) to the next person on the list?

Also, if Lil' Alphie is mine just for a few days or a year, I fully intend for him to return back to the Moonbase in time for DB4H 5, to be auctioned off at that point for someone else to be his companion. They can offer him board for ever or send Lil' Alphie on another tour.

So, is there any interest in being a host for Lil' Alphie?

Update:

Alphie's bags are packed and he's off to see the world. Here are a few FAQ

When and to whom do I give my mailing address?

When you're up next on Alphie's itinerary, I'll PM you the forum name of the person who is currently hosting Alphie, as well as PM your forum name to Alphie's host. At that point, you'll give your mailing information to Alphie's current host.

What do I do with Alphie when he visits?

Alphie wants to see the world, and make friends. To that end, show Alphie things around your area that you think he and others would like to see. It's up to you.

Alphie has a journal with him. Inside the front cover is an address to a PO Box where you are encourage to mail a postcard of your visits. I'll be collecting these postcards to be made into some sort of craft/momento.

Also in the journal you can write down a wrap up of what you did with Alphie, or notes for other Alphie hosts.

Also in the journal will be my e-mail address where you can e-mail photos and the write up I can put up on www.lilalphie.com.

What if I can't pay with shipping, or things come up?

By signing up, you're agreeing to nominal costs of shipping and buying and sending a postcard to the states. In some cases, like with international destinations, I'm more then willing to help you offset some of those costs.

But things change, and you might get Alphie right in the middle of a stretch of hard time. Ping me on the forums or via the e-mail in the journal and we'll see what we can do.

I would be totally down for this, and if you send him to me, I'll take him all over Sydney, Australia, and probably Newcastle, Australia too!

I trust in the LRR community.

Unless I'm being naive there's a reason not to. I'll risk losing Lil' Alphie forever if it allows others to share in something like this.

I trust the LRR community, just make sure it doesn't get into the hands of non-LRR's

It sounds like a fun project. Hopefully it will work out despite issues with cost of postage around the world.

I have Creepy Doll #4. :)

Depending on when this gets started, I can either take him round Auckland, New Zealand, or Birmingham, UK. If it's the latter, I could take him to the first ever Cadbury's factory.

Fun!

Dear Sir,

It has come to my attention that you have recently acquired a small bundle of unmitigatable horror known as the Creepy Doll, & have intentions (motivations unknown, nefarious or otherwise) of visiting him upon the final resting place of my favourite author of words & fine stories of cosmic horror. This news brought to me a stroke of inspiration & therefore impels me to put upon you a small, special request of my own personal interests.

Mr. Kool, if I may be so forward as to ask a favour of you, I should request a high-resolution copy of your most well-put composition of the photo you intend to capture at this event, that I may have it printed at a local chemist with intentions of displaying it within my home.

Someday, I, myself should hope to visit your humble city of proud heritage & see the mound with mine own eyes. Until then, I should hear of your adventures & anticipate with enthusiasm the products of your upcoming photo journey.

Yrs. Mst. Sincerely,

James (Evilus)

I'd be happy to show him around Waterloo, Ontario.

Or where ever I might be living when I get it.

Well, I'm thinking Lil' Alphie needs to visit Point Park, see the view from Mt. Washington (Lived here 4 years and never been up Mt. Washington), get stranded in the Squirrel Hill tunnel (That would explain for once why people are afraid to go in...) and maybe even grab a Primanti's.

Any of these could easily be done by any LRR fan, doesn't have to be me. :)

I'd be happy to introduce him to number 7, but I live just north of Pittsburgh, so from a site seeing point of view I can't really add much.

A creepy doll eating a Primanti's sandwich would be pretty sweet though. Ooh, you could pitch this to the Travel Channel. Creepy Doll's Favorite Eats or some such.

Suggestion:
Always ship Alphie by a trackable service (Postal Service trackable, or FedEx if need be) and post the tracking numbers here, so everyone can monitor his progress.

Also, perhaps get one of those small Moleskine books, so those involved can add journal entries for where he's been.

I also have faith in the community, and this sounds awesome!

Also Graham's journal idea is pretty rad.
