Mucinex Ads Ruin The Site
An ad that, not only wastes my bandwidth, but also can be neither muted nor paused? The fucking hell is the problem here?

Just mute your computer, they should go away. Or, reload and see if you get a shorter less irritating ad. I take it you're from Australia?

Re: Mucinex Ads Ruin The Site
I'm assuming that this is one of those awful noisy ads?
If you're running Firefox, go install NoScript. It prevents any javascript/flash files from running unless you give them express permission, ads included.
Those talking ads are the entire reason I installed NoScript. I haven't seen a single once since then. It was the best day ever.

Glad to see you all support the bullshit ads, as opposed to making webmasters properly deny ads that harass the users. Hope you all suck dick and die, much homo.

In the good ol' US of A, geocoded ads are quite prevalent on LoadingReadyRun, ads for almost every strange thing you can think of have shown up (even though the LRR crew tries to keep the ads relevant) It is to make them money, but it is rather annoying (that is, the few times when I don't use an adblocker)
Re: Mucinex Ads Ruin The Site
Ahh, I see. Well that does seem annoying, but sign up a new account to cry annoying?

All I see is "QQ QQ QQ WHARRGARBL WHARRGARBL WHARRGARBL"
Theyre ads, they keep this place running, get used to it.
Also, I think its a bot, and this is the couple posts before a spam

Really, anyone who hasn't thought to install Ad Block Plus but bothers to register just to moan about ads is not worth listening to.
And yes, I realise there's potential irony with this being my first post.

Lets just hope noone signs up just to complain about Danja's post then. The forums would implode, like what happened after the great Quote tree. The universe will never be the same again.

Have you been to the internet before Darkobra?
Only noisy ads I've been getting recently is the neurofen ad which starts with the narrator saying: there's that annoying pain again.

Clearly this is an agent of the Robitussin empire, sent here to generate ill-will towards their arch-enemy Mucinex by spreading propaganda about their ads.
Ads which, by the way, I have never once seen, despite the fact that I load a significant number of pages on this site everyday and run neither ad-block nor no-script.

Re: Mucinex Ads Ruin The Site
Recommending someone install adblock so they don't have to deal with a particular ad is not the right way to go, for two reasons.
1: LoadingReadyRun is cool enough to have this forum and let us watch their videos, all for free. Adblocking them is basically stealing money directly from their bank accounts.
2: If a particular ad is bothering you, it may be bothering someone else, decreasing their enjoyment of LRR videos. Adblock won't fix the problem for the other person.
I have seen some video advertisements on the main page. They seem to be "Interactive Advertisements," possibly provided by "OneScreen"? A polite email to the webmaster with this information would likely be more conducive to all around improvement than a few rather crude posts with unspecific complaints and vulgarity, followed by a bunch of ridiculing/sarcastic posts in response to those complaints.
Come on, guys.

Re: Mucinex Ads Ruin The Site
In recent memory, I've only once gotten a sidebar ad that had audio, and it was easily mutable and pausable. Oddly enough it was while watching Investigation, which like the other blip.tv videos also has an ad in front of it.

Re: Mucinex Ads Ruin The Site
First off i don't approve of blocking ads.
What i do approve of (though some will say this is still too much) is getting Flashblock and if your going to a site that you know has the really annoying ads that play music or that take over your entire screen for 20 seconds to show you the latest porn links they have available then you enable it and it just stops them but leaves all the non flash based ads alone.
It's not a perfect solution but thanks to whoever thought that because you were looking up lyrics you wanted to hear 30seconds of the song on repeat, it's all i have.

I signed up pre-emtively just over two years ago just so that I could now say; I am terribly shocked and offended that two users created accounts just to complain!
I've never actually gotten a noisey ad on here that I couldn't pause, and I'm never bothered by the ads in the first place. I'd feel guilty, actually, if I did ever block and ad here... then I'd go buy a tee to make up for it.

To expand on this and my previous post:
I run NoScript, yes. But I no longer run things like AdBlock, and I recommend that others do the same. Ads are a good thing, and lately a lot of the sites I go to have been running ads that are relevant to the site's interests instead of just random crud. This is good both for the site and for the viewer who is discovering other neat things. However, I still recommend NoScript, not only as a security measure, but also because noisy ads are just straight up BS. If I am interested in your product, I will click on your simple banner. There's no need to assault my senses with loud noises while I'm trying to listen to my music, thanks.
That and my laptop is getting rather old, and a lot of noisy ads have a habit of making my browser grind to a halt for a bit. Not cool.
