I gotta say that England seems the worse for ths kinda stuff. When it gets colds and snows, everyone moans, and everything stops (though usually for reasonably fair reasons). And then when it gets got, everyone moans. And then when we have our temperate wet weather, everyone moans because it rains. Gets kinda annoying sometimes.

Hey you guys, this weather is snow joke.

It got to -20 celsius steadily here.

Dear god was that freezing. I traveled to the grandparents because their house is warmer.

... and it'll get to -30C sooner or later. Heck, at this speed, -40C.

It is above 0 here so everything is melting at the moment, but we had a few inches so it will take a while before it is all gone

In any case, I'm the latter. Damn snow and ice. :/

Why do you think I'm laughing? because i expect them to do the same when that happens

Coming from someone who lives in the southren parts of Sweden ... Personally I'm never bothered by there being alot of snow in winter, but our public transport (especially the trains) go straight to hell. :D

Makes me happy that I don't have the take the train everyday anymore.

It's thawing right now, however beneath the layer of snow there is a lot of ice on the roads and sidewalks, and all that ice is going to take some time to melt. So instead of everything being bogged down by snow, it's now super slippery everywhere.

The snow is gone and now my FAVOURITE part! ICE! :D My college is actually downhill. Last year, there was an old man clinging to the fence for dear life trying to get down that hill. I slid right past him, maintaining a perfect pose and gave him a wave, smugly stating "Lovely weather we're having!"
"Fuck off!"

Yesterday was a glorious day, the thaw set in and all the snow and ice began to melt. Then it started to rain.
And last night it started to freeze again.
Now the 10 minute walk to the store has been replaced with a 45 minute odyssey in staying upright. The entire country seems to have been turned to ice.

Started snowing 5 hours ago. Walked it to college, buses cancelled, got to college, college cancelled, walked it back home. Snow is so deep here that I can walk up the snowy hill and walk on top of my fence.

Has Europe never heard of road salt?

There are a few things about salting the roads:
On less well traveled roads it won't help much because it doesn't mix well.
A lot of cities and towns want to be as eco friendly as possible and thus only salt the main roads, leaving the rest up to their devices.

We have, but due to the environmental demands the salt used means salting roads only really works above -5 or -6 degrees. Below that the stuff doesn't really freeze but the resulting sludge is so thick it might as well be ice.

Now the thaw has really set in and there are now puddles everywhere. Let's hope that it doesn't start freezing again, because otherwise I'll need to put on ice skates to get around tomorrow.
