So, comedy-fantasy tale. It's only seven episodes long, since they're raising money to do season 2, but it's seven god damn hysterical episodes

Just watched the first three, and I was sold after one. Nice find, Cybren.
The guy they got to play the paladin (Glorian?) is fucking perfect. Every time he opens his mouth, gold falls out of it.

Nice! I just watched the series and the casting was pretty much gold. The bard is kind of annoying...but that's bards for you.

The previous posts reminded me of The Gamers, and now that my hunch was confirmed, I'll have to watch it when I get home.

Yeah, at first I was all "feh, whatever, I'll check it out..."
But right there, on the homepage "By the guys who brought you Gamers."
Which a) meant it had a very very good chance of being AWESOME (especially because it looks nicer than Gamers), and b)I figured was worth sharing because it might draw more people.

Hey Chemistring, what is wrong with Bards?
Aside of that, do any fellow D&Ders think it looks like they're journeying in the Dragonlance Campaign setting?
Re: Journey Quest. It's a funny thing. You should watch it
That was brilliant, loved every second of it, though several plot twists were obvious, when they came around didn't make it any less awesome. Characterisation, dialogue, acting, costumes, set design, absolutely everything was perfect! Couldn't ask for more, short of a second series!
Edit - Just noticed the director also credited as Wharrgarbl in the credits. So much win right there!

Myrph: The robe colours feel more like...karate belt style.
Basically a yellow robe is the low rank and black is highest, and such.

Nothing wrong with bards, in theory. I just have a hard time appreciating the annoying scrappy sidekick role, even if the bard isn't actually a sidekick.
With that said, while the JourneyQuest bard is definitely a talkative twit she's not stupid and is obviously well prepared for her travels. I don't actually mind the character, but I <facepalmed> at the "you're not involved in the story yet so we can totally talk even though you've threatened to kill me!" scene. Poor situational awareness, right there. Silly bards.

Re: Journey Quest. It's a funny thing. You should watch it
We actually had the best bard ever in a game once. His name was Jim, and he was enthusiastic about EVERYTHING. And it wasn't annoying, it was just, Jim's always enthusiastic, and it's kind of a morale booster. And his buffs were always good. Later on it turned out he was a werecrocodile, which we found out when he'd taken a certain amount of damage and just changed and went berserk. He didn't know either until he changed back and we told him. Good times.
Edit: Oh yeah, a few minutes into the first one I definitely recognized the blue-wearing (priest?) guy as the smug asshole from Dorkness Rising. Excellent.
Double edit: Oh, hey, and the wizard is the skeezy guy from the same, innee? Okay, I'll stop now.

Well, Wisdom is my usual dump stat for my Bards, so I would agree with the low situational awareness part.

He played banjo. 'Twere good times indeed.
So yeah. These are amazing. They're doing an excellent job so far, and I look forward to it continuing. Fantastically written and executed.

First thoughts. of the first episode that im watching.
it's funny seems to be different enough from the gamers dor-WHAT THE HELL THATS THE POWERGAMER FROM DORKNESS RISING!
ok yeah, that was funny. i'd love to say it's trying too hard to be dorkness rising, but it's not. it's actually fairly original, and there was only one gender bender joke!
seriously, what is it with dnd that brings on them jokes -_-
