Re: THE FINAL SHOWDOWN: American English vs Canadian English
I think theres a difference between pronouncing something with a dialect, and pronouncing something wrong.
For example, if you say the word chameleon with a 'ch' sound instead of a 'k' sound, you're saying it wrong. (yes I did just watch the newest episode of HIMYM....) However, if you say Pah-sta instead of Paw-sta or whatever, its still right.

Hello world, remember me? I'm the sad little fuck that you failed to see, who you should have recognized When you had the chance. Hello motherfuckers now its time to dance

I got a question for everyone!
What do you prefer to call these?
Crisps or Chips?
I prefer crisps ... I'm use to chips being the word I use to refer to french fries now. o:

Re: THE FINAL SHOWDOWN: American English vs Canadian English
In both languages filet is a noun and creating a verb out of it is technically grammatically incorrect but accepted (in English anyways). The correct usage would be 'Je coupe un filet de morue noire.' - 'I am cutting a filet of black cod.'
The etymology of the word is French / Latin for string, thread, or line which was also used for ribbons but isn't used that was anymore. So a filet of meat is a ribbon of meat. Interestingly filet is the French word for net (as in fishing and sports) expanding on the string etymology.

we call them chips... which is kind of weird because we just took that English word and smacked it into our own language

When I clicked on that YouTube link, YouTube played an ad for General Electric before the video. The industrial conglomerate apparently was trying to rebrand itself as a pioneer in sustainable energy. The ad featured a man dressed like a cowboy who said, in a stereotypical American country-western accent, "Get in step with GE, and join the Ecomagination line dance."
That made my day.

I don't think he would care what we speak of! Preposistions are not where it's at!

The way I say "sorry" is apparently the Canadian way. The problem is that I'm not Canadian. I apologize to Canadia for stealing their pronunciation.

There's at least twelve ways to say "I'm sorry". Which one was it?
