Actually that's probably not a very good comparison. But it shows you how relatively left/right each of the parties are.

You say this, but Julian Fantino got 56% of the vote in Vaughan, where I live.

And he's a <expletive deleted>.

Just interested, that's all.

...Woah Nelly.

The Dems are centerish and the Republicans and VERY VERY right?

I think you need to move your centre line a few notches right.

Actually compared to the rest of the Western world the Dems are quite conservative.

Sorry, I meant 'wat' in that I didn't know what you meant by 'majority conservative' is sounded like you were asking for which tidings voted for a conservative majority, and that's not actually a thing that can happen.

Did you mean 'which ridings voted mostly conservative'?

Yeah, basically.

Like which ridings gave their conservative representative the majority of the vote (of those who voted). Like Fantino got 56% in Vaughan. Which IS STILL RIDICULOUS.

...Also I'm afraid of the rest of the world if the Dems are centerist.

Hell, I'm kinda afraid of the rest of the world based on those graphs.

You're afraid of progressivism or did you mean you're afraid of the world if the Democrats are considered right-wing?

CBC has a decent interactive map election results per riding. You can drill down province to riding. Just a guess, but the ridings that went majority Conservative are in Alberta, the prairies and southern Ontario.

That map depresses me. If strategic voters in Ontario weren't complete morons it would look so different and much less sad.

The latter.

My whole life I've functioned off a scale that put, purely left and right (ignoring authoritarian/Libertarian), centre just right of the liberals.

This, I should note, conformed with the one found in my Civics textbook in grade 10.

Considering that in Canada and America, the political spectrum is linear, AND follows the same line, it is entirely possible that the world view I've been using was created to accommodate that.

Thanks for giving me a fairly good comparison, I like the graphs. Always been a supporter of Green in the UK, so I think I'll hope for NDP, although I can't really express a proper opinion. Although I think the graph is a little off. Labour and Lib Dem in the UK aren't further right than the BNP.

Well, just from reading the BNP's Wikipedia page, they seem to be pretty centrist, almost socialist-like in their economic policies, which corresponds to the left-right axis. (They favour nationalization of certain industries, protectionism, and are against laissez-faire policies).

Oh, and the election's over. Cons won.
