That looks suspiciously like Annika... but not as "filled with hate-steeped vitriol".
And now, Lil' Drac.

My 2 year old daughter saw this picture and has been running up to me for the past half hour going "daddy daddy! kitty poke!" then bopping my nose.

Yeah, I thought so too when I first saw Annika! I was like "Sdpjdpnp!! That's a big version of Little-One!!"
And that bat video made me teary eyed. So sweet. ;_;

It is, but the sanctuary that rescues them is amazing too. One of the stories they have on their website is of "Little E". They released him with a few others in a colony. A few days later, they received a call from a volunteer about three bats hanging lower than usual on the side of their house. When they arrived, two of them flew away, and this third one was Little E. They figured out that he is a bat who isn't good at being a bat. So they brought him back as a permanent resident.
Even cuter, they said that most likely, those other two bats were part of the colony he grew up with, because bats have been known to stick to each other to help comfort each other in times of distress.
I'd post a link to the story of Little E and their adoption page, but that video of Lil' Drac sorta crashed their site with how viral it is.
Re: Thread of soothing cuteness
I've always found bats adorable. I don't know why some people don't like them (other than things like phobias that don't make sense anyways). I'd have some as pets if it was common (as it is I assume they're much happier in the wild).
Check out my webcomic, The Meddlers! (Currently not updating)
