I can't help it; once someone starts talking about "converting" me to liking a thing, or how I have to experience a thing, or how I will absolutely love a thing, that's it. The challenge is made. I will make a point of avoiding what was being touted. The more you try and convince me of the qualities and merits of a thing, the more I will dislike the thing. Image

i'm pretty sure the term "conversion attempt" was being used in jest.

None of us care whether you like it or not. He was simply saying that if you didn't like episodes 1&2 then you might want to try (and he did say "try", not "you HAVE to watch") episode 4, because 1&2 don't really represent the formula of the show, they function mostly as an introduction to the world and characters. You know, like a lot of pilots do.

If you don't like it, cool. It's not for everybody. We're not going to judge you for not liking it.

Just saw this one.

I am deeply uncomfortable with that episode right now.

Also, damn this string of Rarity and Cutie Mark Crusader episodes!

She works better as a flavor character in my opinion. She can get on my nerves in a feature episode.

Dash is more what the japanese call a "genki girl". Gonna let TvTropes field this one.

TvTropes wrote:"Genki" is Japanese for energetic or enthusiastic. The Genki Girl is a character — usually a schoolgirl, but not always — who acts like she's been mainlining Red Bull and crystal meth. She is possessed of an incredible surfeit of energy, such that she runs everywhere (often with arms waving wildly or outstretched like airplane wings), speaks quickly (sometimes unintelligibly so), and always does everything fast, fast, fast! She's filled with confidence and determination, regardless of whether she's competent or not. Although usually played exclusively for comedy, sometimes the Genki Girl slows down for a serious or introspective moment. But not for long — she lives her life full-throttle. To sum it up, a good way of telling whether a female character is genki or not is to see if her family and peers are exhausted, astonished or even creeped out by her chronic outbursts of vitality.

Can totally see why some people would dislike her. I personally am just more annoyed by fashion and "high society".

Sounds more like Pinkie, tbh. I can't stand Rarity very much, just because I was a female nerd in elementary school. She reminds me of everything I hate.

I would never want to be Rarity either, but the neat thing the series tries to emphasize is that each pony has a redeeming quality: Rarity is generosity. Of all the characters, Pinkie is the one with the least redeeming quality: Laughter. (which is ironic considering she is also my favorite)

So, meh, we all have likes and dislikes, but in the end we all contribute something. :)

And ^^^^^^^^^ is why I love this cartoon.

See, I would actually categorize laughter as the best redeeming quality, off of the assertion that there is no situation that laughter cannot make better. I think that's more of a personal philosophy kind of thing, though... although Pinkie is also my favorite character. I would agree that they did a great job with giving everyone some meaningful gift to contribute.

Pinkie isn't a genki - she's a ditz.

Pinkie doesn't really care how she looks; that kind of disqualifies her from ditziness for me.

Wait, what?

I think we've got our terminology on odd wavelengths. I've only ever heard "ditz" used to connote some level of stupidity or air-headedness.

Someone can be both a ditz AND a fashionista. Like Valley Girls, for example.

Ditzy to me means bubbleheadded prettygirl. *shrug*

Episode 25: Pinky is f*in' crazy.

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this week's episode. Amazing. Definitely my suggestion of episode to check out if you're not sold on MLP: FiM.

I would really consider Pinkie in any form a ditz. The only fault in her intelligence seems to be an inability to recognize sarcasm. Other than that, she is quite smart.

Yah, I'd have to rate Pinky up there on my list of favorite characters ever.

Also, does anyone else see a little of a Looney Tunes sensibility to the show. Like the episode where Pinky is chasing Rainbow Dash, they're acting exactly like a Pepe LePew cartoon, even down to Pinky's hopping.

Then the Running of the Leaves episode just screams Looney Tunes to me.

Ok, this may be a bit obscure, but I swear I heard one of the main background songs from the Show Kenshin The Mightiest Disciple in this show on several occasions. I am probably just hearing things but I swear they are really similar.

I just watched that episode (Party of One) and I'm now going to have to go back and watch them all. The song Pinkie Pie sings while giving out invitations got my attention and when she's with her new friends I was hooked.

Ninja edit: Tonight starts Operation: Derpy Hooves since I have everything I need but paint and glue remover. Since I've failed at finding a good guide on how to cutomize ponies I've pieced together some information that should be somewhat useful. Hopefully I'll remember to take photos of each step, which is already off to a bad start since I just did the 'Pop the head off the pony" step.

One thing I really love about the pony community is the Team Fortess 2 mods. It fills the game with a lot more happiness. Just look at all of them! http://ubergaming.net/forums/index.php?topic=793.0

New favorite, hands down.
