Well describing why it is popular is kind of hard but I found someone who did a decent job of analyzing the show, http://cosmicspacefrog.tumblr.com/post/3997730668/welcome-to-the-herd-whats-this-an-overly-complex#notes. Not the best, and not the only reasons but I think the guy does a decent job.

edit: And yeah, the better episodes are later on.

That's a good article. He manages to capture the experience a lot of people have had with this. I especially like the part where he talks about when he watched the show himself for the first time.

He also does character analysis of the main cast, which is pretty interesting also....on a side not there is a severe lack of pictures in the last few posts.

There's also a severe lack of e's in your post, but AM I COMPLAINING?

Oh, wait...

Guess I'll get on that picture thing.

Six is the one where the tards lure a bear from space into town. If he didn't get it by then, I don't think the later ones will draw him in any further.

He's a bit of a late addition to the cast, but I rather like Soarin'. I'd really like to see them expand upon some of the various secondary characters, especially the Wonderbolts.

Especially with the giant creepy bear at the end. EPIC.

I am a horrible person.

In the course of looking for more pony pictures, spefically ones relating to Soarin' and his love of pies, I have found unspeakable horrors. Yet, disturbingly, some of these horrors make me laugh SO HARD.

COMPLETELY INAPPROPRIATE LINK

For those of you who were smart enough not to click, or who weren't but who are somehow not yet dead or insane, I present to you the future king of the ponies.

Everytime I look at that I let out a Fluttershy like 'yay'. Mostly because I'm at work and don't want to explain why I'm looking at cartoon pony fanart.

Some Doctor Whooves since it's a new episode of Doctor Who today.

Nice :D Bit sad that I can't be considered a brony, though. Honorary? I think I'm tough enough.

Arius says girls can be bronies too, and he calls me one. Or is that an insult? :P

It was heavily inspired by ENN. I wrote the intellectual's portions with Cameron Lauder in mind actually. He was my favorite of their interviewees because of how straight and serious he took issues like hate speech preservation.

I think episode 25 when they appear to be blowing off Pinky Pie is when they make up the story about cave sitting.

Ep 25, "Party of One." It's a reference to the part where Rainbow and Fluttershy are avoiding Pinkie.

So yeah youtubes Transcribe Audio is awful, and once I found out about it I decided to see what it would say. Almost instantly I got this really weird caption....
