According to Barbara Tuchman, the Peace Prize was to be discontinued 20 years after it's conception. Nobel figured that if war and arms races could not be solved by then, they never could.

Oh hoho, want a good read Banana? Check out Kissinger's Diplomacy. It's an academic tome detailing western diplomacy from 1630 to 1990. He repeatedly mentions in various contexts that the morality of individuals differs from the morality of nation states.

Honestly, this means... well, it means something, but not terribly much. It's more a symbolic victory than anything, but... this guy was not a good guy. So it's good that he's not influencing people into killing themselves anymore.

My personal favorite so far: "Osama bin Laden was killed in a mansion. Now we have to determine who did it, in which room, and with what object."
