I don't really expect any money from it. I just did it because it is easier than doing all that work myself.
The most unique, nicest, and confusing individual you will get to know. Don't be stupid around me, that's my job.

Re: Share your Art with the world!
If you manage to get popular on DeviantArt it's not really that hard to make money, it's the getting popular part that is hard. There are over 19 million registered members on DA after all. Sure enough a big chunk are probably not active anymore, but it still leaves it in the millions.

I think you have to win a lot of competitions or be VERY VOCAL.
You might not get popularity from being VOCAL but you will get noticed more easily.
I really should resume my crusade of being bitter towards art on Deviant Art again...

Well, most of all you need an art-style that appeals to people, and also draw stuff that people are interested in. That's why a lot of people that draw fanart get popular easily.

Taking a break from everything comic related to draw fancharacters. And I like kyuuuuuuuet stuffz!

Village hidden in the mist, right?
I'd like imagine that Zabuza is somewhere around waiting to strike..
That aside, I envy anybody who can draw from their mind. I can only draw what I see on a screen or in front of me. Anytime I try to draw from imagination (get it, DRAW?), my mind changes channels before I get anything down.
One minute I'll be like, "hey! Lets draw a mech fighting another mech!" and before I even get my pencil down, I have Barney the goddamn purple dinosaur dancing to Mambo number 5.
Suggestions?

Aye, it is Hidden Mist, her forehead protector isn't visible as it's tied around one of her upper arms. =]
My suggestion is to start simple and don't be too self-critical. Drawing screenshots or such is a good way to help yourself get started, learn where to put the lines and such, but it's a crutch and if you don't stop using it after a while it becomes more of a drawback than helpful.

Re: Share your Art with the world!
Deeds, every time I see an example of your art it just gets better and better.
So, I haven't actually posted any art in this art thread for a while now (Since page six. I checked.) because apparently I'm a terrible excuse for and artist and a human being. Tomorrow I have not one, but two photoshoots scheduled, the latter of which has been in the works for a month and will require a fair amount of bodypainting-related prep work before shooting can actually start.
Stay tuned...

I used to have the same problem, Jay, then I realized that I was holding the pencil too tight and also at awkward angles.
*hugs* You just made my day, Van!

I get cramps from writing but never from drawing. It's very strange.

Could try using a different medium? No use suffering for your art. I mean, some people romantically think that's acceptable but I don't.
Tried charcoal/brush-reliant mediums that are perhaps gentler?

The problem is sustaining a grip on anything for the length of time it takes to draw anything out. This sketch just about got done before I would need to stop.

Re: Share your Art with the world!
How much discomfort is using your hands/fingers as the tool to apply the medium?
If it's better than gripping anything, might be a good solution for long-time art-sessions.

Not that much, but finger-painting is very limited.

Re: Share your Art with the world!
Finished a quick character drawing (Well, it was meant to be quick, but took most today because I has not been able to focus, too dang warm.) for an IRC roleplay I joined.
Simon Mordekai Ljung
I'm gonna go collapse in bed now, so warm, eyes are fucked.

Re: Share your Art with the world!
Finger painting can be surprisingly very open. You have greater control due to the fact you're not directing a long stick that isn't part of you. Sort of approach it to how you'd approach soft pastels.
Probably not the best idea to use paints like Oil paints where accidentally ingesting any remnants might cause you to painfully die.
I strongly recommend using your fingers if you want to do a long session and don't want a lot of discomfort. I used to do it.

Re: Share your Art with the world!
Or somehow wrap the pencil around the tip of your finger so you're not gripping anything really
Also, deedles, got a thing for men with long hair and facial hair as well?

Yeah I do, but funnily enough the Mist Ninja in the previous drawing isn't mine, but a friend's character. xD

Before collapsing from exhaustion I've managed to edit one photo from my earlier escapades today. Expect links to more eventually.
