Well, if you have G+, you have a Google account, and if you have a Google account, they have a URL shortener. Although http://goo.gl/ajwId is nowhere near as easy to remember as http://gplus.to/mowdownjoe.

elvor sent me an invite as soon as he got in, but I didn't have any pressing reason to use G+ until people started tagging me in LRRndon albums. Fortunately my usual username is rarely taken on any website, so I still managed to get gplus.to/mikerpenny.

Given most of my uni friends' apathy towards social networking in general, I suspect I'll find it hard to persuade anyone to bother with G+ (for now, anyway), and I already have tons of photo albums and message histories on FB, but I'm still happy enough to use G+ for the things I do find useful.

On the subject of games, I hope they add a button to hide games if you have no interest in them. Probably will once apps as a whole get rolled out.

Yeah, Games have already been released, and are an entirely seperate feed. If you don't click the Games icon, you won't see anything about any game, ever. It is lovely!

I tried to use my animated forum avatar and it wouldn't play. Static gifs only, I'm afraid.

Solved the problem by 'shopping the plane into my profile pic.
