Not this again.
Going to explain the proper use of crisps, chips, biscuits, etc., as well?

Hey, the official board language is British English; what can I say?

The first rule of etiquette on the forum is also "Don't be a dick".

Re: The General Chat thread
I know that I write some kind of mix between British-English and American-English, which is because I'm used to being about Brits, but my Google Chrome only has an American-English spell-checker.
I can't say that I'm very bothered, but I can be very picky with using spelling like "colour" instead of "color" because the British spelling is the original spelling of the word.
Actually! That reminds me. Is it spelled gray or grey? I don't actually know, and I've never heard anything about one being a British spelling and the other an American spelling.

Heh, two years might be a little bit late to start following rules like that. And like everyone else, I firmly believe that the forum/internet/world would be a better place if everyone acted just like I do.Master Gunner wrote:The first rule of etiquette on the forum is also "Don't be a dick".
Anyway, according to the my dictionary, 'grey' is the proper spelling, and 'gray' is the classless ruffian spelling. I can never remember which is which, though, and somehow doubt that anyone would notice in any case.

It's grey. There is NO other spelling
Re: The General Chat thread
I've always preferred "grey", myself. I dunno, it just feels more.... grey.

Surely there is a way to install a British-English dictionary if you wanted to. I don't use Chrome but I would think they have language settings and downloadable dictionaries somewhere.

So the question remains - has Ottoman been enough of a dick to warrant rule 4?

Oh I didn't mean just this thread. I've come across 3 or 4 threads with people yelling at him to stop being a dick. He's approaching Stinkychops level of dickish, and that was really annoying.

True, I never looked, probably should though. =)
Edit:
I also agree with Laura, only that Stinky wasn't annoying, he was good for a laugh.

No, Stinky was openly trolling and being an asshole with the intent to make people angry. I prefer to think of Otto as delightfully misanthropic.

What do I think will happen? If I get a response at all "just ignore him and don't read his posts." Or what usually happens when I PM Matt - nothing. Seriously, never had Matt do anything or respond to a PM.
Ok, so I guess you guys really do like having dicks around. My bad.

Re: The General Chat thread
Oh hey guys. This thread is turning out nicely.
You know Laura, as much as you sicken me, I know you're not stupid. Still, perhaps I should clarify just so that everything's on the record. Stinkychops was a foreigner who's intent was merely to shit on this forum in the name of his retarded gang.
I, on the other hand, care about this place - I've been here for a while, after all. And I contribute to our discussions honestly (usually, unless it's obvious trolling in good fun). I think most people here are great. Pretty much every post I make is, at least to me, made in the name of 'good'. Except for those few people, I don't try to make anyone genuinely angry.
Not everyone is the same. A lot of people around here lately are so energetic and positive it occasionally makes me want to frow up in mah mouf a little bit, so I do my part to keep a kind of balance. Unfortunately, those people seem to be far too sensitive, as well.
I'm used to being around people and frequenting places where the way I act would be considered average if not downright nice, where people take the kind of things I say in stride.
Basically, don't get so butthurt just because someone is making posts without layers of social pretending and empathic bullshit.
And since this thread isn't intended to be The Ottoman Show, I'm going to leave now and not let this become some long, drawn-out post war. PM me if you really must, I guess.

Re: The General Chat thread
Oh sorry, wasn't talking to you since, and I'm using your expression here "you sicken me." Didn't want to upset you. Oops.
Too bad you can't feel the same way about others.
And yeah, I PM'd you, and Matt. Probably nothing will happen. Woo.

I've never foe'd anyone on these forums, because even the people who piss me off contribute meaningfully to conversations.
Congratulations on breaking my foe-cherry Mr Otto.

I saw a mother and two cubs on the street in front of my neighbours house last Monday. They looked all cute and cuddly
